Benny Hinn says there weren't enough Christians in Indonesia? He's one to talk. I don't call him a Christian, either.

I don't know all the details, but he is apparently a preacher who claims he has healing powers.

I heard several stories of him caliming he could cure some seriousl condition (cancer, tumors, you name it). The catch? You have to be Christian to be healed and regulary puut some money on his account, to look more convincing he apparently has a lot of witnesses who can testify they have been healed by him and discovered god in the process.

This Nut case flew all the way from US to Bangalore after the 2004 tsunami (which afected the coast area and not bangalore which is a central city). Not only he claimed that this disaster was to punish the non-christian for not believing, but conductcted a big service...still in bangalore...to pay an hommage to the victims...and of course get a few convertion down the line. turned out that the people here didn't quite get how the governement allowed such a fraud to "perform" in the light of such a tragic event, and several riots occured the day of his "memorial"
What was laughable is that the Christian community in south India is quite important already so what was he really trying to do here.

Now it seems this guy has a problem with Asia not being well established on the Christian map...but why is that such a problem for him? Go figure.

Thanks for the info about him. I appreciate it! :) Amazing how people think such a judgmental and condemnatory approach will bring people to their god, isn't it? :=O

I can't call Christian a person who abuse the credulity of a person in distress and who reinforce the idea that you HAVE to belive to their god in order to get slavation.

I have no idea if benny Succeeded in converting a few lost souls in India, but I do know that brevious envangelist groups did succeed using similar methods. the of course approach the most miserable part of the society, in slums and oucast communities. And simply ask the "potential" christians to write a wish on a piece of paper and put it in the wish box saying that god will grant their wishes. Of course since those people are from poor background and are interested in simply fullfiling bare necessities needs the wishes are simple enough for a religious group to grant : New Bicycle to go sell product to the next village, a fishing boat, medicine to cure a familly member's aliment, money to pay the schooling of a child...And the church grant all those wish, it is then very easy for the evangelist to say "See God listened to you despite the fact you are not christian, He welcomes you and you should go to church evey week to thank him and have more of your prayers and wishes answered and grnated" The bait worked, they have new members to their community who will never really get anything else from "God" but will be encouraged to keep praying as god works in mysterious way.

Well Cyn, this is one time I have to stand up and say that people who pray (and even those who don't) get a lot from God, though the gifts might not always be so obvious.

I agree! There are so many blessings and opportunities my Goddess and God provide, also! And I don't always recognize or understand.

I think such dishonest attempts to "sell" conversion -- you get a bicycle if you follow my deity kind of thing, eventually backfire. People figure out they were manipulated and then become resentful and return to their own beliefs eventually. Not much integrity when selling a religion that way. :(

When I ask the Goddess and God for help or specific needs for myself or others, it's always with Their caveat, HARM NONE. I do no magic without leaving it all in Their hands, that the best outcome come from my workings. The Goddess and God have the "big picture." I do not. My vision is colored by this physical realm, and results have to do with Karma and work in a particular incarnation. I cannot know that fully for myself, let alone others I pray for through ritual and magic. So, I always leave the final direction and result of my workings, in Their hands. I have belief and faith and trust in Them. I don't bargain with them, nor They with me, "if you do this, I will do this."

Good point!
