Hi was wondering what everyones feeling about them??? I am going this month to one and another one In Jan. There was a 6 month wait for the one In Jan. I was told she is very good. I have gone in the past but never had much of a reading. I lead a boring life so there was nothing to tell me.

I distinguish in my brain between fortune tellers and psychics.

Thanks for your replys. I agree 100% I have never heard of either one of the women except the one I have a 6 month wait. I have heard she is very good. Helps out with solving cases...???? not sure if it's true.
The one women I went to when I was in my teens asked for birthdays. Not always true to your sign...i'm not anyway. She did tell me alot about my boyfriend at the time...now my husband.. She was right on the money. He is nothing like his birth sign...

I'm not sure I believe all. I do like to see what they have to say. The one I hear can see spirits....I hope is true. I lost my dad in May and It's very hard And I feel Like i'm missing a huge whole in my life. I thought that that after his passing I would get a sign from him...In a way I did but didn't.the Night or next after he passed my dd's balloon from weeks before(on the ground...lost pretty much all it's air) was floating above my bed. My dog barked at it and woke up my husband. I didn't see or hear anything. At the same time of the AM my brother heard my dad tell him to get out of bed...and my stepmom thought she heard him calling her name. when I told my husband about them hearing him he said that the balloon was for me not for him. All this happened in a day or two from each other and around the same time in the morning. I didn't see or hear anything. I feel saddened . I'm still waiting. Looking for every sign every sound. Iam /Was very close to him and miss him. I guess that's another story. In a nut shell i'm lost. I guess I just want more.
Sorry so long...thanks for listening.

"Remember, nothing is set in stone when it comes to your future."

I think this is a really important point to keep in mind, when using divination tools or getting readings. The readings are ONLY for things as they are IN THAT MOMENT. A few hours, even a day or more, and your energy has changed, tiny choices you make from moment to moment in your day, change the flow of energy, and change the flow of your life. All added up over a period of time, can change your path, even if you don't notice the change in direction until it becomes more divergent in the future.

Whenever I do a stone reading for myself, or my DD does a Tarot work-up for me, that is how I look at it. It's a snap shot of where I am at this point in my life, but just like snap shots in our photo albums, they are frozen in the past, as we move forward. It's a way to see the indications of directions of how my immediate past, and present are pointing toward the future. Sometimes it's a head's up to me. Sometimes there are no surprises that I don't already know.

I have only had my Tarot read once from a practitioner I met at a Renaissance Faire. Many years ago now. Both my DD and I had our cards read. We didn't have the reading at the Faire, but I stood and watched and talked to her at length about her practice. Then I meditated on it and my intuition told me this woman was genuine. We drove two hours to her home for a reading about a month later. I gave her very little information at all. The reading was right on! WOW!

I don't have the money to do it now, and besides, I have DD who does readings, plus I do my own with stones. My tools are mainly meditation and t'ai chi, in order to let my intuition and inner wisdom well up and guide me.

Here's a site I found some sites for different kinds of readings (palm, Tarot:

Caution is the byword, I guess. There are a lot of charlatans out there, but I do believe there are ones with a true gift, like the woman I went to, but a lot of times it's up to your "gut" or intuition, and your reaction to a person, whether you want them to do a reading for you. There is not hard and set rule or guarantee. The one caveat I would offer, is use your common sense, and check the information against your intuition and inner being. If it makes sense, then take it as a POSSIBILITY, and look at what's been going on in your life, and what choices you are making, that point to a direction for your future. The details of your past, immediate past, present all figure in to your future. A reading will only be a photo in time, for that moment. A quick snapshot, that if things stay the same, this is one possibility for the future. But we don't stay the same, even from moment to moment (like you can't step in the same river twice idea), so nothing is SOLID and WILL HAPPEN, from any reading. Any reality or power is what YOU give it, by believing in it and thus coloring your future choices and direction. We do create our reality, to some extent, I believe, so taking someone else's words in a reading and making them part of your reality, must be done very carefully.

I truely believe there are genuine ones out there, but unfortunatly there are also many charlatans who are just after your money.

I would say that those who over advertise and give you deals such as "Result or money back" are not to be trusted. If your talent was genuine you would not offer that kind of scheme to gain the confidence of a potential client.
A true and genuine fortune teller will be well known sure, but probably her main publicity will go by word of mouth and she will do a few fairs here and there and not promise the moon.
When I was living in Switzerland I used to get some tiny flyers in my mailbox, the name and cell phone number of the person was changing all the time, but the promises of bringing love back, putting a stop to disease, giving clear divination about the future, and putting curse or removing curse...result or money back was the same down to the dots. I kept a few to check wether the phone number would change or not, after a few months of regulary having my post box "spammed" with those flyers I noticed that some names were coming back...but that the cell phone number was changing. I deducted that or this was a different person using a nickname,or it was the same person who changed cell...and the reason for changing cell every now and then means that he got his share of money on the old one, and did not intend to re-appear and cancelled his previous cell (which probably was prepaid) to avoid getting angry calls form upset customers OR get in trouble with authorities.
A true fortune teller I think would not do this they would want to be reachable at the same number and have a few regular clients. I don't think they would use a 900 number either (those who cost a lot per minutes).

We all have intuition but we rarely use it, and the best way to gauge a person is to meet them eye to eye so going to those fairs is the thing to do, that's where you would hear about genuine ones.

I used to do tarot reading, but I as I got through a stressful period in my life I lost it. You need to be in tune with yourself to do readings, and as a previous poster said, they are snapshots of your life...There is one quote in the movie "The Empire Strikes back" sid by yoda that I really like : "Always in motion the future is"

Actually it is the "genuine" fortune tellers that you need to be wary of. These people are getting their supernatural abilities not from God so therefore from the one who loves to deceive and draw vulnerable people into confusion and bondage. That is Satan and he is very real. Don't have anything to do with fortune tellers! Look for your answers from the Bible. They are there, I promise you.
