Hi,
Ok that's cool. Although I may sound offensive to some non-Christians I really don't mean to be. I just have very strong beliefs in my Savior and do not compromise with the world's beliefs of "self as god". I thought this was a place where I was free to express my feelings but if I am saying something that offends too much, let me know and I will find somewhere else. Thanks, have a good day. :-)

You are absolutely welcome to express your beliefs, and no doubt your enthusiasm will be contagious.

I believe there are powers of spirit available to all of us, and people will call them all sorts of things.

well the easy answer to why i think the way i do again is because i believe the Bible is the truth...
but since i am quite sure i am now coming off as some closeminded "Bible thumper" let me back up and explain where i am coming from...
first of all i was raised with no faith at all, in fact believing only the natural realm existed up until i married my husband who was and still is a devout denominational "religious" person. well i tried to accept and believe all that stuff with its rules and regulations and false concern etc etc but the truth is i could never stand to go there and sit through the services or buy into what the church was telling me.
So again i turned away and tried looking inward for some spiritual understanding and searched around and read a lot of new age type stuff, which i see a lot of here and still was so "lost" and unhappy down deep. Years later i met a guy who i casually got to be friends with who was a real "holy roller" i thought, but we clicked and got into so many long and intense conversations about his buddy Jesus...and this friend of mine is possibly the most intelligent man i know (oops sorry hubby) and very highly educated. so i dug for myself and dug and dug the Scriptures. using all kinds of translations of the Bible and concordances, you name it! Well i discovered the more i studied the more it all made sense and all went together- both the old and new testaments even though they were written thousands of years apart and by over 40 people many of whom didn't know each other. well i could go on and on. i have just completed my third year of indepth graduate level Bible study online and again the more i learn the more i am convinced it is Absolute Truth.
But maybe even above all of that, is the dramatic way Jesus has changed my life. He has completely delivered me from depression/anxiety and an eating disorder i had for 22years! He changed me so completely to a person i never would have recognized even 5years ago. He does it little by little as a believer submits to His Word and His Holy Spirit's guidance, through obedience. All i had to do was accept Him as my Lord and Savior. Its all a free gift. So cool.
So i am ever thankful and grateful and faithful to my Lord. And i give all the glory to Him who is all powerful, mercyful and loved me to awesome health and happiness.
Well i didn't know i would write so much but i just had to explain. :-))

Welcome KC,

It's great to hear you found what works for you, faith is something really important to my eyes and something very intimate. I always compare faith and religion as a pair of shoes that take you to the path of life. You need to have a pair that is confortable and fits you well to have a confortable and safe journey. I think most of us here are looking for the right pair for ourselves. Some prefer sneakers, other swear by stiletos, and a third person might feel better wearing flip flops.

I don't think there is an absolute truth in this world...there are just different point of views on the approach to life. Once you find you fit, I guess you find your absolute truth but again it's personal. And it seems you found your pair of shoes and your truth congratulation!

I myself was raised christian, but at an early age I realised it was really not for me, the pretty shoes my parents picked up for me were really not what I wanted to wear :-) Right now after several years of trying and seeking the right pair of shoes, I found one that satisfy me. My own personal beliefs are close to those taught in Hinduism, but I really really don't want to bear any labels...at least right now things might change. But for the first time in my life I feel in tune with myself, god and the world and not affraid of the path that lies in front of me. I think that it's faith...then I found it :-)

I just posted a response on another board about visiting a psychic, so if you don't mind, I'm just going to cut and paste the response I left there....

<<<>>>
I've done it, several times. I don't know if I'd do it again, I'm debating about that. Actually, I think that my own intuition is pretty strong, so I typically just go by that. Just two nights ago I had a dream about this beaded elastic bracelet that I have... I was taking it off my wrist in the dream and it broke, the beads shooting out everywhere.

I woke up that morning, and was removing one of those elastic things to put your hair up, and the bracelet started coming off with it and... yup, you guessed it, BROKE, with beads shooting out all over the place.

Some things to consider are that practitioners are DIFFERENT in many ways. First of all, lets just say, for example, you go to a Tarot reader. She may or may not also be psychic. She might just be adept at reading cards, but she might not be actually able to *SEE* the future. She is simply using her knowledge/study of Tarot as a tool to help you get insight into what COULD happen in your life.

The other thing that I'm sure a lot of psychic/spiritual advisor types will tell you is that since we have "free will", a lot of times we can change the outcomes by taking a different path. Nothing is absolutely set in stone.

What I mentioned about the Tarot readers is the same for palm readers and astrologers. They are basically using the TOOLS that they have, external tools, rather than their internal gifts. However, they CAN and MAY be using psychic "powers" as well. It all depends on the reader.

What type of psychic were you looking to go to? I've seen a variety of them, mostly Tarot readers- a lot of times, it's good if you have a background on what the cards mean, so you can interpret them yourself as well, and that can help confirm or disprove your reading as the reader sees it.

If you do decide to go, I'd suggest giving as little information about yourself as possible, and don't let on that you have any uncertainty about your life or that you want reassurance that you'll be able to find the things that you're looking for in life. I think if you go with that on the forefront of your mind, that's what you'll get, whether it's true or not...

I think it depends on the "psychic"/advisor you go to - for the most part, I think that they tend to GENUINELY believe that they have a gift... it's just a matter of whether they really do or not. Also, they are not infallible, everyone has an "off" day, even doctors, etc... so it's a good idea to take what they say into consideration, but not with much more than a grain of salt. In the end, it's really up to you to make your life what you want it to be.

I'd probably advise, if you can find such an animal, lol... to find someone that can help guide you towards HOW to get what you want in life, not to tell you IF you're going to get what you want in life. I come from the philosophy that we are very powerful, and we are as powerful as we make ourselves. If you want something, go after it and don't let anything try to get in your way. And when things DO get in your way, remove them in the best way possible. So to me, it's not a matter of IF you're going to get something, but HOW.

Also look out for generalizations- a lot of times psychics will tell you about your "soul mate", etc- especially, depending on your age... they will tell you what they think you want to hear. The other thing too is that I am sure they look at nonverbal communication, and "clues" just by "reading" you and your body and what you represent based on your clothing, facial expression, etc. That is something that ANYone can do... so lets say, for example, that you are not wearing a wedding band/engagement ring- she (or he) may assume that you are not married, and when she says, "you're not married, are you..." and you respond- she can gauge by your answer whether you are happily single or not! She will also probably be able to guess whether you have an S.O. or not... so I would suggest to do whatever you can to not give away any clues and let her work on figuring you and your future out using her true gifts...

Hope that helps...
If you have any other questions, let me know...
