US Election Day questions
19
Mon, 11-06-2006 - 6:03pm

I was going to put up a poll, but with only one answer allowed, I didn't like the limitations!

Tuesday, 7 Nov is Election Day in the US.

1)  What do you think of the American election process?  Will you vote this year?

2)  Should negative ads be banned?  Is this year worse than any other for them?

3)  Do you cast your vote based on your religion/spirituality?

4)  Are you registered with a national party?

These are general questions and in no way intend to spur political debate!

1) What do you think of the American election process? Will you vote this year?

I think the process is ok, if people get off their behinds and go VOTE! And yes, absolutely, I will vote. I don't believe in not voting. If I don't vote I have no right to complain, LOL! :D

2) Should negative ads be banned? Is this year worse than any other for them?

I think negative ads show the dark side of politicians and those who authorize really bad ones do not get my vote. They show no class, and no professionalism or integrity. Why would I want them in office? YUCK! I don't know about this year's ads. We muted the TV and read or played with Mika. I do not watch the ads. We don't take the phone calls, either, but let all go to the answering machine. :P

3) Do you cast your vote based on your religion/spirituality?

No. I have no desire to force my religion on everyone else through laws or representatives. I don't want a theocracy and that's what is scary about people who do this and then claim their Gods are in control of our country. Makes me really squeamish and it goes against our Constitution and Bill of Rights to force others to live according to one's religion. I vote by issue and whether I think the platform or the propositions will serve/benefit ALL people, not just a few or those who believe the same thing I do. This is a secular gov't and should work for ALL people not just one segment who believes in the same Gods.

4) Are you registered with a national party?

Yes, I am.

1) What do you think of the American election process? Will you vote this year?

~~I think it's alright. I normally vote every election but did not this year. I did not follow the issues this time around due to all the changes in my life and did not think it was fair to vote when I am so uninformed.

2) Should negative ads be banned? Is this year worse than any other for them? ~~ I do not like all those ads out there, I wish the candidates would show adds that show what they stand for instead of bashing their opposition.

3) Do you cast your vote based on your religion/spirituality? ~~No, but depending on the issue I might.

4) Are you registered with a national party? ~~no.

I did not vote this year. If this had been a presidential year i might have, but this year i didn't care to go out in a nasty soggy day to vote for our local politicians who only engaged primarily in mudslinging. It was really bad this year and these so-called christian people should be ashamed of themselves for putting out such negative ads.

On top of that we had the Amendment banning gay marriage bill on out ballot. I live in a very conservative state, and it was clear before the elections which way the wind was going to blow. Unfortuately not toward our homosexual community. I'm neither a democrat or a republican really, i just vote whoever is best for the job. I like our Republican governor very much, but I was also liked Bill Clinton as well.
