Big thumbs up! ITA! It just seems common courtesy to me in our diversse society & culture. When greeting strangers, especially.

And this is how we can both find a place in the same denomination--as different as we are :-)

I don't mind hearing any of them and I say several of them myself ... except Yuletide Blessings, which is very ironic since I'm Pagan. Anyway I look at any of those greetings the same way as if someone says "good morning." You might not like mornings, you might not be having a good one but someone was nice enough to express that they hope you have one anyway.

The only thing I would have to add to that is that it's not so much that the Christians are out protesting because they only want to hear Merry Christmas but some stores were not allowing the employees to say it. Some stores were telling their employees that they can say Happy Hanukkah or Happy Kwanzaa and Happy Holidays but they were strictly forbidden to say Merry Christmas. I think if the store would have told their employees they were forbidden to say Happy Hanukkah or Happy Kwanzaa or Happy Ramadan there would have been protests by other religious groups but it was ONLY the Christian greeting that was forbidden. I think that's ridiculous because Christmas is a federal holiday and even though I don't celebrate it myself over 80% of the population in the US claims to be Christian and an even larger number celebrate Christmas (both secularly and religiously) so I think it's crazy to stop using the word Christmas and try to forbid employees from using it.

Just my 2¢

I agree that it's ridiculous for the stores to use exclusive phrases. It would suit me just fine if stores went to just "Happy Holidays". I'm not usually one for PC, but this a sensitive issue that requires it.

Because I am a christian I say Merry Christmas, but I wish my Jewish friends Happy Hannuhah, etc.
