I can't wait!! It's DHs first Hanukkah!! Our first Christmas we were in PA with the ILs, the 2nd he was deployed. It's the third and we're finally celebrating the holidays our way. I'm giving him homemade gifts, so our store bought gifts will stay under the tree until Christmas day.

April --
What a great holiday you have planned!!! It sounds like a very special time.
It is a great idea to combine your traditions.

I recently became a member of a group of 7 different churches, each from a different denomination, who work together on community projects.

It is very educational and interesting to see how people from a Catholic chuch, a Synagogue, a Unitarian church, s Church of Christ, Scienctist, an Episcopal church, a Baptist church, and a Methodist church work to understand and respect one anothers point of view. It is sometime difficult and there is occaisionally the need to forgive things that are hard to understand between faith groups.

Difficult as it can be the world needs much more understanding. It sounds like you are doing this with ease in your home and with your family.

Have a great holiday!

We're a national melting pot :-) I think that being able to live in the US is so special. Where else in the world can we meld so easily? Where else is it acceptable?

I agree. We are fortunate to be in this country and the "melting pot" element will continue to break down barriers between people and improve the world.
