the essence of this board

is about love, kindness, respect and as the title says: faith and spirituality. here we are all more one than separated. This is not a religion board. Sure, things about religion come up of course. Faith and spirituality do not always mean religion. The flavor is about accepting, sharing and really it is not an analytical place in a heavy, text book type of nature. it is really for people who are tired of analyzing, who want to share and get new ideas. maybe we question and ask more than analyze. I think if one is truely heavily into their religion, they usually find a place that deals with that religion only. We would be a thorn on the side as we are not RELIGION based. Just my humble take. correct me if I am wrong. Love, Leila

I think that disagreeing with someone and challenging him or her are two pretty different things. I could understand a disagreement, and "challenging" in the sense where you *encourage* a person to look at another viewpoint, but to "challenge" in a way where you are being confrontational isn't quite appropriate for a message board, particularly this one...

Precisely why I'm here... I co-host a debate board, play on several, but... also need to be away from them to throw out some things that might be floating around inside of me, to see what others are sharing. If it's debate that is needed, I know where to go.

Sometimes
Sometimes
I see much more than's good for me
The first thing that's on my mind
The last place I look each time

I find debate brings out negative energy, and it is contagious.

If one is not careful, debating can certainly bring out negative energy... it can overwhelm a sense of well being, etc. If I reach this point, it's time to back off!

Anyway, in answer to your question... mind if I share a day in my life?

For those who might not know, but who soon will with this story, I'm gay. And I'm reading The Well of Loneliness, written by Radclyffe Hall in 1928. The story is novel, but a thinly veiled semi-autobiography of Hall's life.

The story has profoundly affected me in many ways. The protaganist is someone I really have empathy for and identify with, something that is important to this story, because it suggests my level of engrossment. There are passages that have made me blurt out "yesssss!! which is fine, because my work environment is safe space. Then there were a couple of passages that ticked me off no end, because the comments were blatantly racist.

Today, I'm reading a portion of the story, now nearing the end, wherein one person dies from pneumonia. Her partner follows that night, voluntarily. I spent my lunchbreak, the whole hour, simultaneously reading and wiping away tears.

Part of the story today talks on the spiritual draw for lgbt folk, and indeed, there is such a draw. Is it more than others? Probably not, but it surely is equivalent, for we do find both comfort and it's opposite, depending on what faith one may belong to...

for me, believer in a collective life energy we are all a part of, etc... it's quite strong, even if finding the right shape is newly found. I'm still learning, contemplating, looking within and without, etc...

there are things that matter much and which must be part of my life. When one falls to pieces and has to rebuild, methinks this becomes essential.

We're allowed to state our beliefs right? Here's mine: (if it gets deleted I'll let the whole world know)

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:

Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended into hell.

The third day He arose again from the dead.

He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy *catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.

Amen.

Sorry honey, but I'm not Catholic. It's wonderful that you believe in what you believe but not everybody on this board follows the teachings of Jesus or follow catholicsm. But even if one does follow the path of Jesus, the last thing that Jesus ever wanted was to promote hatred or negativity toward other people. I thought he promoted peace and goodwill toward men? The purpose of this board is for people to explore faith and spirituality and to share spiritual feelings. Please stop the attacks on Bink.

warm wishes,
Stormy
