Celebration traditions

Regardless of which of the December holidays are celebrated, it always seems to feel good to have traditions, things that you do year after year.  Begun in childhood or created later on, do you do something every year that if you didn't, would feel like something was missing?

I am notorious for procrastinating. I save every present until Christmas Eve to wrap. The tradition is to watch the Pope give his address @ midnite, as I cut & tape my way through the mound of gifts. jan

Hi Bink,
Yes, that is a picture of the actual Yule log we devoured 2 years ago. I'm looking forward to a repeat. They also make them in vanilla and rasberry, but we are chocolate lovers.

For several years I went to church on Christmas Eve... not always the church I regularly attended. (Wow, it's been a while since I've gone to church!!)

Of course, that is why you are Ginger cookie. I always made gingerbread boys and girls. The girls had raisin boobs and the boys raisins for buttons. When I worked with lots of people with different sexual preferences, the gay guys got the boy cookies. Now that i live alone and don't want the calories, I have let the traditions go by. When my hearing is better, I'll go back to entertaining. Love, leila

I always had huge christmas eves. My X had the kids on Christmas. I had a huge basket filled with all kinds of cookies. I own every cookie cutter imaginable. I made beef wellington, whole stuffed salmons, home made breads, plus limpa because my hubby was Swedish. Home made salad dressings. It was a gourmet feast. The desserts etc etc I don't know how I did it. Now I don't bother with anything, being Jewish helps, I work on Xmas so others can be home with their family. My DIL took over Christmas eve. They asked me to dfo a brunch on Jan 1st. Does not feel like a tradition, not something I really want to do, but I do it to have the family around. Love, Leila

I only have one holiday tradition, DH and I have Kona coffee on Christmas. I feel lost that I don't have holiday traditions actually so I'm trying to make my own.
