Being Jewish

I was having a discussion with my husband about being Jewish and how people think Hanukkah is the Jews' version of Xmas. We had an enlightening discussion about how I believe Jesus existed years ago but that he was not the son of God but a learned person, like a teacher. I belong to a reform synagogue yet our rabbi is more traditional (old-fashioned) with certain beliefs which my husband and I disagree with. We feel that same-sex relationships should be legalized, we also believe in interfaith marriages (my brother who is Jewish is married to someone who is not Jewish). Our rabbi would neither preside over an interfaith union or same-sex union. Other than these two issues, we are very happy with our rabbi. We love the spirituality of our services and that music is a great part of the service.
