from the interview:

"Nick Nolte, Acting the Wiser
The spiritual seeker on inner peace, how romance kills the ego, and the crisp kohlrabi from his 'evolved' organic garden.

Interview by Valerie Reiss

Nick Nolte has memorably brought his corn-fed bad-boy charm to 70 films—from the tough cop in "48 Hours" to Barbra Streisand's tortured lover in "The Prince of Tides" to a narcissistic colonel in "The Thin Red Line." His personal life has been no less dramatic or prolific—for all the world to see. But now the 65-year-old actor channels wisdom hard-earned from struggles with addiction and three divorces into his latest turn as "Socrates," a spiritual mentor in the film rendition of Dan Millman's beloved book, "Way of the Peaceful Warrior."

(interview continues...)

Anybody read Dan Millman's book? I did. It's part of my spiritual library. It had some wisdom I found uselful, many years ago. Great food for thought. Fascinating interview, too! :)

I read the book last summer and loved it so much. I find myself thinking back to it many times. I have also read the Celestine Propecy books. And am now reading You on a Diet. The common thread through these I found was talking about eating foods that are alive and full of energy, rather than all of the processed bad stuff we keep filling ourselves up with. I want so much to make this change but it is a challenge.
I have been wanting to see the movie so much.

I've been trying, but I can't wrap my head around Nick Nolte being Socrates.

There is a Celestine Prophecy movie as well. I just ordered it from Barnes & Noble online. Can't wait to see it. I also have all those books. I don't remember food being the major theme in any of the books, but I think we learn what we personally need the most, when reading spiritual journey type books, don't you? :)

P.S. Have you read any Louise L. Hay's books? She connect spirituality with physical health, and physical symptoms with something needing fixing in one's life. Good read. Several books. :)

I don't see Nick as a role model for spirituality. I just see him as someone on his own spiritual journey, and that this acting role exposed him to something spiritual. He's learning from his prior life, some important lessons, and perhaps the Universe has sent him this acting opportunity to teach him something more? Teachers and wisdom come to us in so many different ways. Perhaps this is what is happening for Nick and we get to go along for the ride, in seeing the movie? It's been many years since I read the book. I shall have to dig it out and re-read it... :P

I *~*~*LOVE*~*~* this book!!

The trailer for the movie looks like they've *tried*, although I'm really not sure about Nolte as Socrates either . . . we shall see . . . I will definetly go see the movie. (Intend to read the book again before then!)
