The Celestine Prophecy: the Movie

I have this whole series of books and even the workbooks! ;)) I found them valuable on my spiritual journey and study. Anyway, I found out they made a movie of the first book, The Celestine Prophecy, and when I got a gift certificate to B&N, I ordered it. I watched it yesterday afternoon. From what I could remember of the book, it was pretty true to it. The screen play was written by the author, James Redfield. I just felt transported. So much connection to my Pagan path and sensitivities to nature and life energy.

It was interesting to watch the "how the movie was made" bonus feature on the DVD. All the people interviewed came to the movie because they were on a spiritual journey themselves. Interesting. And that is what Redfield wanted in the actors that came to do the film. It wasn't "just an acting job" but he wanted that sensitivity in the actors. What fun it would have been even to be just an extra or help with the food, you know? Just to soak it all up. :)

The books are AMAZING! :)) Here's his web site:

I received so much benefit from his philosophy, and seeing the movie yesterday, made me sit and realize how much I have incorporated this philosophy, melding it to my spiritual path, just as I have other spiritual learning from Zen, martial arts, t'ai chi, my Pagan/Wiccan studies, even my past Christianity. Teachers and guides come from everywhere! :))

I read the books years ago when I first realized the direction my journey was taking and really enjoyed them.

The books and the movie spoke to me on deeper terms, with some deep recognition within me. None of it ever seemed like fantasy or sci fi for me.

I think the movie has a deep presence without having read the books, like the movie "Paying It Forward," perhaps. Depends on the sensitivity and spiritual awareness of the viewer as well as the reader, I think.

They showed the movie at Unity church last year but I didn't go. I also wrote on that web-site for a while, some interesting people there. read a couple of his books. The movie would be good to see. I'd like that. Love, Leila

Please do post your thoughts! :)) I plan to re-read the series as soon as I finish my current reading project. It's been quite a few years since I read them & used the corresponding workbooks.

Science fiction is turning into science fact. I grew up on Star trek. Deep in me I "knew" allmost all I saw would some day exist. "im still waiting for transporters though".
So what we think maybe fantasy or sci fi? Could be just one more adventure in reality. blessings
