Since I found out I was a candidate for my cochlear implant, I always kept it in my mind to get tuned into sound for Valentine's day. As the timing kept getting changed ie: had to wait for the implant to come in before they would book surgery ( that was late) then the surgery that was to be in 2 weeks became 3 weeks. The dates all appeared to not have me activated to sound by val day. But it has been in my heart and thoughts. Here is my conversation with my doctor Wed:

me: It would be a wonderful Val pres. to be hooked up for val day, also it would help me to get used to returning to work to have more time to adjust to the sound.

doc: now that is pushing it, I usually wait a month after surgery, I told you 3 weeks. Let's go to audiology and get you a date. i like more healing time.

She comes out and says, be here 8:30 am on the 14th. Yahoo, val. day and 2 weeks after surgery. I can pop in at work every few days to listen and adjust to sound. That will add to my confidence. The brain has to make sense of electrical currents, it is computerized. It keeps getting better and better. For some, like a robot or Donald Duck at first. If I created my valentine day present, I can create great sound. I am starting the adventure on a day of love. How silly, all days are of love. Love, Leila

It's all computerized. I'm a cyborg------- cybernetic organism. I can't wait to get the procesor to wear over my ear and have it programmed. Have 2 more programming dates set. It is very exciting stuff. I am going for lunch even if the waiter sounds a little robot like at first. Every day it gets better. Love, Leila
