using drugs to open up?

Hi,
I feel 'blocked' and would like to open myself up. Any suggestions on how to do this? Also, do drugs help open one up? I know there is a history of drugs for religious/spiritual purposes.

What got me started on this is I met a fairly talented writer who has achieved some level of recognition.He mentioned how drugs are used in this way, and how once you reach that point you don't need to use them anymore.I don't know if he was speaking from personal experience or what he had read. But maybe you're right too in that perhaps I'm just bored where I am right now. I've always lived a very clean life and it just seems like I haven't gotten very far. Thanks!

Beautifully said. I'm impressed with how you and others have explained yourselves so well. What you said about meditation makes sense. It really does. Now I'm beginning to see the difference. It's human nature to be curious about things unknown.Thanks so much for taking the time.

you wrote:
stop and just be. Don't look for anything, don't search for anything... just be. Just stop and look around, take things in.

That would be so hard for me to do and so against my nature but maybe it is what I need to do. In a way I feel like I have sat back for years, but maybe now I'm just trying too hard. It's hard to just wait for things to happen. I will try to relax about it a bit and see what happens. I may also check out the book you mentioned. Thanks!

Hi,
Just wondering if others had said that drugs opens up a false reality.

It’s not so much that it opens a false reality, just that it distorts your perception of what is real. You could compare it to looking at yourself in a funhouse mirror vs. a regular mirror. Both show you a reflection – but one will be of your true image, while the other will be drastically distorted. If you were trying on a new outfit, which reflection would you rather trust?

I've been sort of staying out of this thread on purpose, because I didn't want to let my own strong opinions to come off as just that...

Being a boomer and surviving the 60's and 70's, perhaps I have a different take on using drugs to enhance awareness.

Thanks Bink for sharing from someone who's lived through the times. It is sort of ironic that the 60s and 70s were followed by the materialistic 1980s. It does seem like as a culture we have lost touch and we're spiritually empty in a lot of ways.
