Hello,
Just wondering how you deal with negative people in your life, especially if they are family members that you really can't avoid. How do you recognize a negative influence? How do you give yourself permission to break away from that person?

I'm with Bink. A big negative, I avoid them. I have enough to do to keep myself in balance. luckily, I recognize when my thoughts are out of alignment. A little negative: like a gal I work with and love. I am her teacher, she hasn't listened too much yet but she will in time. She gets hung up on not letting things go.

family: Ya just keep loving them and be the power of example, i guess. Love, Leila

It took awhile but I finally connected how I felt and being with a negative person. It's like they are a dark vortex draining me of all Light, making me feel exhausted and empty and depressed. I shield myself before I go out now, so that negative energies are deflected. I also do a cleansing exercise with my t'ai chi or take a ritual cleansing shower to wash away negative/dark energies.

As for people I can't remove from my life, either because they are family or co-workers or such, I actively shield before seeing them, avoid getting sucked into deeper conversations or what have you. And I come in contact with them as little and as seldom as possible.

When I worked with a particularly negative person, I would shield, protected my work cubicle with sea salt and spell work so she wouldn't come into my work space (and she didn't -- always stood outside and talked to me) and I also would send loving and healing energy to her before I started work each morning. Helped me get through the day, along with t'ai chi at lunch.

Even with family members, I'll still avoid them.
