What did you do this weekend?

My oldest brother and SIL drove up from Indiana with my mother, and we had a terrific 48 hours together.  SO came down from the frozen north and it was a wonderful time of getting to know each other.

For all of my life, SIL and I have not been on the best of terms, but last week she sent me an e-mail apologizing in general and that it was time she grew up.  She said she knew it was her fault and it wasn't too late and she was working on it.  I was so stunned I literally could not speak a coherent sentence.

The visit went very well.  We didn't talk about specifics, but there was an obvious warmth between us and I felt that reconciliation and healing were taking place.  Mom, who is 90, held up just fine, though opted for the wheelchair at the botanical gardens and butterfly exhibit.

SO's DS and DIL stopped over and met my family.  SO and my family like each other and all in all, I couldn't have planned it better if that had been in my power!  I'm so grateful and happy, I can't even express it.

I'm glad your holiday turned out so well! YAY! :))

My weekend started Friday evening. DH actually went with me to the UU church Passover Seder dinner event. The ritual foods were on each table, on a special tray. We read ritual responses and went over the stories of the Passover, and Moses, the Plagues sent to get Pharaoh to release the Jews to leave Egypt. It was beautiful! :))

Saturday was my "prep" day, doing chores and cleaning house. Walking Mika.

Sunday I went to the UU church for their Easter service. The theme was about throwing open the tombs of our own spirits, acknowledging the importance of having our "hibernation" time within, but coming out of that, to live our lives with potential and joy. They have a tradition I've never participated in before, called a Flower Communion. It was beautiful. Everyone brought a stemmed flower and put them on the altar by the lit chalice, in vases with water before the service began. Then, later in the service, we all filed up to pick a flower and take it back home with us. it was a beautiful morning, we had the windows open in the meeting house, and the aroma of the beautiful flowers filled the room. :)) We also celebrated our minister's 50th birthday with birthday cake, and the children had their Easter Egg hunt outside.

Later in the day, my DD came over and we planned our Beltane ritual (May 1st) for our Pagan Circle, and got most of that planned out. DH's sis came over and we had our traditional ham dinner, and she made an awesome from scratch lemon meringue pie. YUMMY! :P

It was a very nice weekend! Nice to pull out of the everyday schedule and do something special and different. :))

Oh, I'm sorry they were sick for Easter. At least they got their baskets and had their egg hunt. It's sure no fun to be sick on holidays! :(( I hope they feel better VERY soon and that you don't get it yourself! ACK!

We used to have a flower service the week after Easter in the Episcopal church I used to attend.
