Nature of the soul

Hi, everyone. I'm still having good days and bad days. Not sure yet how today will turn out, but it seems if I get the least bit frisky, I pay for it the next day! I see the surgeon Wednesday afternoon and though I had hoped to be released to drive, I don't think that's actually a good idea.
I've had lots of time to ponder my world. One of the things I have been thinking about lately is the nature of the soul. I believe the soul can come and go from the physical body if it needs to, as I did several times as a child during sexual abuse. I remember watching from the corner of the ceiling, and for many years as an adult, I would "leave" during sex and not remember a thing about the act later. (Fortunately my therapy reversed that years ago!)
My memory left my body at the same time my soul did. That leads me to believe that my soul plays a much more active part in my total being than I thought previously. Can there be body memory separate from soul memory? Which is which? Hmmmm... If so, which one survives the transition?
I'll keep pondering, but look forward to your thoughts, too.

Hmmm...
If the soul were our consciousness, wouldn't we all be better at living with each other?
I am new to the whole body-soul-connect thing. I just got out of a relationship that I felt was letting my spirit down. I thought this would be a nice place to make some new friends & share thoughts and ideas.
Personally, I think of my soul as the essence of my being and that the soul can do some of the things our bodies can do such as feel and also remember. We know what our body looks like, and what our brain looks like, and how the two work. What about the soul? If we do not know what form it takes, how do we know things like how it thinks, acts, and remembers? I guess it's one of those mysteries only God knows. Loved this question!
