What Religion am I? How to know?
| Sun, 06-10-2007 - 10:02pm |
I've been feeling a strong need, maybe not so much a need but a desire, to start going to church since the birth of my daughter. We struggled to get/stay pregnant and during that time I found myself doubting God at times and blaming him at others. I now know that I've truely been blessed.
My problem is that I'm unsure of what religion I consider myself to be. I was raised in a religion that I don't agree with now and feel lost because it's all I've ever known and don't know where to start in finding out what kind of church I should look into. I know what I believe, I just don't know how it would be "classified". I need some guidance and thought you all here might be able to help.
TIA. :)

Welcome to the board!
Give this one a try:
Spiritual seeking is a tough job. Even if we figure out what we believe, trying to find a group of people to practice what we believe, celebrate it, support each other living it, is not always easy. Fortunately, there are many paths and traditions to consider, study up on a little, and carefully choose. I wouldn't choose to choose in a rush, but be patient and take the time to choose rightly for you and your family. Try out different churches by attending services and hearing more about their focus and intent. Your child is an infant, there is time before she would be ready for religious education, so you can find a church just right for you and in which you want her to grow up. :)
The quizzes on Beliefnet are good ones to help you see the direction of your beliefs. Also, depending on what comes up in your list of religions, Christian denominations, you can use the site below to research them:
