What are you doing this weekend?

What's up for the weekend?  Those in the US starting the Fourth celebration early?

I'm hanging at home getting a few things done that I was unable to do for the past two months because of my shoulder injury.  It's feeling much better, but I am still "weak as a kitten," as my surgeon said!

So, what's up?

Amazing how things change in a split second...

I was planning on going to a memorial service for the mother of one of my Pagan Circle members later this morning, but my Mika dog got sick around 3:00 a.m. this morning. Diarrhea in her crate. After we got her and everything else cleaned up, she threw up in the kitchen, where we were keeping her for easy clean up on linoleum. Poor baby! :(( After we got finished cleaning all that up, and taking her out frequently, we went back to bed, with her barricaded in the kitchen area (our bedroom door opens into the kitchen (we have a very small house, LOL!) so I could hear her. She slept. I couldn't. I was too awake after all the cleanup, plus the worry. :-\ So, I gave up at 5:00 a.m. and got up and came on the computer. She is o.k. for now, but my plans for today are cancelled. Hot weather does this, and I have been keeping our A/C at 76 days and 72 nights, because of the utility bills, but may need to turn the thermostat down for her. She was not acting sick yesterday at all, we had a great walk, she ate dinner with her usual gusto. She had this two weeks ago and the vet put her on an antibiotic for a week, and we fed her cooked chicken and rice. She did fine, and all lab results were negative. This time I'm just going to go with the chicken & rice and keep a watch on her. She is acting alert and normal now. Who knows?! Call the vet or don't call the vet? I don't think she needed the antibiotic the last time, myself. It was hot weather then, too. <:=O

Tomorrow I had planned to go to my UU church for the morning service. That'll depend on how Mika's doing. Also, tomorrow night we have dinner reservations to celebrate DH's 60th birthday (was on Wednesday) and DD's SO's BD, also. Hopefully we can leave Mika for a couple hours and go to dinner. If I don't feel right about leaving her, I'll send the rest of them on for dinner. When they come back, I'll have homemade chocolate birthday cake ready and we'll open presents here.

DH only gets the 4th off, otherwise it's a normal week around here. Same for DD. DH & I are going to go ride a train and go to an annual picnic mid-day on the 4th. IF Mika is o.k. by then. Otherwise I'll send DH by himself. DD has her own plans.

Oh, it's so hard when our sweet pets get sick.

Thanks. No, swimming or getting in water. Only water she's interested in, is in her water bowl. :D No ticks, just brushed her last night and found no "hitchhikers."

Called vet. We have appt. this afternoon. Fed her ½ cup rice with a little cottage cheese and canned (in water) cooked chicken around 10 a.m. That has stayed down. Regulating her water so she won't throw up.

I just don't get it. This happened 2 weeks ago. Took her in to vet. He gave her week's worth antibiotic and flora supplement for her tummy. Finished off meds a week ago. All fine before that. All fine this past week. No food or schedule changes. :=O Lab work on poo sample came up clear last time. Now, a week later, no symptoms or food changes, and again last night. :-\

She doesn't act sick. She IS insulted because I washed her poor stinky butt off, though, LOL! She's snoozing now.

We've had some hot weather (for us). Same 2 weeks ago. But nothing any different than past summers. I don't think it could be her food or recall stuff, as I haven't bought a brand that has had anything recalled at all (Canidae). No new food supplies purchased recently anyway, either. And she's been doing well on Canidae since March when we had to switch from Nutro Holistic

I'm at a loss. Maybe the vet will do blood tests this time.

Please keep Mika in your thoughts.
