I am Beth, and I am a practicing Catholic, with 2 DDs. BRE is 11 and Magpie is 3. My DH was baptised Presbyterian, raised Methodist, has a Baptist minister for a brother and the rest of his family are born again fundamentalists Christians. We are both, DH and I, recovering alcoholics. We are raising our girls Catholic, but a rather liberal sort of Catholicism.
The great thing about spirituality is that it doesn't have to have anything to do with religion. It can, but it doesn't have to. I have taken the edict, "take what you need and leave the rest" to heart, even in the religion of my choice. The Higher Power of my understanding bears little resemblance to the Yahweh of the Christian Old Testament or Jewish Torah. There is a blend of eastern mysticism, New Testament salvation doctrine and Native American beliefs to my Higher Power. My DH's Higher Power is even more different.
Still I go to church faithfully, am a Eucharistic Minister and do not have a problem with that.
