Dec. 21, 2012 - End of Days?

I've been hearing a lot lately about 21 Dec 2012 being the end of the Mayan calendar, the end date predicted by the I-Ching, and the day the earth's magnetic fields will dramatically shift.  For centuries, seers and would-be prophets have predicted the end of the world by a certain date, the passing of a comet, or some cataclysmic occurrence.  The tsunami of 2005, the increased hurricane intensity, global warming, greed, war... all become symptoms for some of the decline of humanity and the pending doom.

With the date only five years away, have you given any thought to the validity of this ancient prophesy?

Here's a clarification I found about the Mayan calendar.  I'm not going to publish the link, as it has some very controversial stuff on it, and I didn't want to spark other discussions:

"The Hopi and Mayan elders do not prophesy that everything will come to an end. Rather, this is a time of transition from one World Age into another. The message they give concerns our making a choice of how we enter the future ahead. Our moving through with either resistance or acceptance will determine whether the transition will happen with cataclysmic changes or gradual peace and tranquility. The same theme can be found reflected in the prophecies of many other Native American visionaries from Black Elk to Sun Bear."

So, what do you think? Are we on a worldwide precipice, or is this just hype over nothing?

IMHO, I believe that they were on to something but what it is, I cannot say. I remember getting the 'whole world is ending' spiel by the senior members of the church where I grew up in, and they were convinced that it was going to end during the start of the new Millennium.

But the Mayans and Hopi are on to something but I don't know how drastic it will be and how big. I don't believe it's going to be the end of the world but rather something cataclysmic that will change this planet. And what that is, I can't really say.

I've been picking up on these vibes since Y2K, then 9/11. The vibes are still in the air. It's getting me down.

Didn't the Jehovah Witnesses predict Doomsday to be 1900?

I agree. I just shake my head at all the doomsday religious or the scientific fear mongering surrounding global warming and disasters, or whatever else. Our species may evolve or we may give way to another species that becomes "top dog." Or we will completely burst out of our chrysalis of our bodies into something totally newborn. All spirit and no body? Our mind takes us wherever at a mere thought? Who knows? Or we may blow ourselves and our planet up, or dive into another era of dark ages. I'm not giving into fear manipulation. I will try to live as positively as I can and not freak about what I have no control over, KWIM? ;))

I find the possibility fascinating, and if something cataclysmic were to happen, I would want to be on the highest hill watching it!

END OF DAYS?

matt. 24:27 says "But the exact day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the son, but only the father."

How can any man know the exact day and time when the end of the world will be, when Jesus himself doesn't even know?

Not to mention Nostradamus' predictions and Edward Cayce's and of course there was that Bishop (or something) that names 111 Popes ... frighteningly accurate too by the way ... and we are on 111!

The only thing that keeps me from digging a fall out shelter under my house is that every generation seems to think it and if 2012 is it I don't really have the power to change it. The best I can hope for is to stay out of the fray and try to make it to the fifth world. *sigh* That's cheery!

I was just telling Ginger Cookie the other day though that I don't have to worry about paying off my credit card debt! :) And really who needs to exercise and get into shape, might was well eat chocolate and bury a time capsule to give future generations of archaeologists something to dig up.

I found a link with some interesting info which is making me rethink the signficance of this date:

http://www.adishakti.org/mayan_end_times_prophecy_12-21-2012.htm

2012 in brief

The Mayan civilization of Central America was and is the most advanced in relation to time-science knowledge. Their main calendar is the most accurate on the planet. It has never erred. The Mayan fifth world finished in 1987. The sixth world starts in 2012. So we are currently "between worlds"

1. Humanity and Planet Earth are currently going through a huge change or shift in consciousness and reality perception.

2. The Mayan civilization of Central America was and is the most advanced in relation to time-science knowledge. Their main calendar is the most accurate on the planet. It has never erred. They actually have 22 calendars in total, covering the many timing cycles in the Universe and Solar System. Some of these calendars are yet to be revealed.

3. The Mayan fifth world finished in 1987. The sixth world starts in 2012. So we are currently "between worlds". This time is called the "Apocalypse" or revealing. This means the real truth will be revealed. It is also the time for us to work through "our stuff" individually and collectively.

4. The Mayan sixth world is actually blank. This means it is up to us, as co-creators, to start creating the new world and civilization we want now.

5. The Mayans also say that by 2012

we will have gone beyond technology as we know it.
we will have gone beyond time and money.
we will have entered the fifth dimension after passing through the fourth dimension
Planet Earth and the Solar System will come into galactic synchronization with the rest of the Universe.
Our DNA will be "upgraded" (or reprogrammed) from the centre of our galaxy. (Hunab Ku)
Everybody on this planet is mutating. Some are more conscious of it than others. But everyone is doing it.

6. In 2012 the plane of our Solar System will line up exactly with the plane of our Galaxy, the Milky Way. This cycle has taken 26,000 years to complete. Virgil Armstrong also says that two other galaxies will line up with ours at the same time. A cosmic event!

7. Time is speeding up (or collapsing). For thousands of years the Schumann Resonance or pulse (heartbeat) of Earth has been 7.83 cycles per second, The military have used this as a very reliable reference. However, since 1980 this resonance has been slowly rising. It is now over 12 cycles per second! This means there is the equivalent of less than 16 hours per day instead of the old 24 hours.

8. During the Apocalypse or the time "between worlds" many people will be going through many personal changes. The changes will be many and varied. It is all part of what we came here to learn or experience. Examples of change could be- relationships coming to an end, change of residence or location, change of job or work, shift in attitude or thinking etc.
