I am a 21 year old girl who has moved from NH to South Korea for a year to teach English. I am having a wonderful time. I am meeting new friends and trying many new things. The problem is that I don't think my body is adjusting. I am eating nothing but Korean food (which if you are familiar with it, it is very healthy). But I am packing on weight! I am eating nothing but vegetables and tofu every day for lunch and dinner and I go to the gym 5 or 6 times a week and do cardio and very little weight training but high reps to keep my body in shape. I have gained 3 kilograms since I have gotten here and I am eating healthier food here. I also cannot sleep. I cannot sleep until maybe 2 or 3 in the morning. And when I wake up in the morning I am fantastic until about 2 when I need a nap. Then I need another nap around 6 or 7. What is wrong with me and what can I do to get better? I feel almost useless at times.

Hi jnyrth,

Wow, that's a big change for you but it sounds as though you're doing great and taking advantage of all the new experiences. I'm not sure how what you're eating could be causing all that weight gain. Have you had a physical recently? Sometimes thyroid disorders can cause some of the symptoms you're having.

Also, it may just take some more time for you to adjust to the change in schedule and the different time zone, etc.

Let me give you some sites that might also have some tips.
