I had a friend that shot himself

Last thursday night. One of my good friends had dated him and everyone is just so in shock right now. He had been such a lively upbeat person his entire life until a few months ago and I as well as everyone else just do not understand how he could do this to himself.

I don't understand when you cross that line to decide to actually do it and that you cannot realize how much pain you will cause the ones you love. He was always such a selfless person and for him to take his own life so selfishly seems ironic.

I just am not sure how to feel right now...

Im so sorry that you are going through this. I feel for your friend though as I think selfishness is the last thing he wanted to do. When I feel like Im lost, its like what do I do? Do I live for others in misery or just end it. Plus there also comes a time when you truly believe that others dont care, that you make no difference in their lives. Its not self pity in my mind, it is a belief that feels very real. I hope that you can heal together with your family and friends. Take care of yourself, HUGS.

Hello Nicole,,,I too am sorry for the loss of your friend,,,a loss that is hard to put into any kind of reasoning which is something we need to give ourselves when we are grieving. I have known two people who have taken their own lives. I can't judge them as I must tell myself they were so deep in despair at the time I could not begin to try to understand their 'whys' for doing what they did. At times I have and still do feel very very low like that too, but thankfully there has been enough of 'life' for me to still grasp onto when I feel myself myself spiralling. I do though have to say I can see how it can happen to someone.
Thank you for sharing your sad story with us though Nicole,,,I think it is very important to read the thoughts and feelings from those who are 'left behind.' Tell yourself if anything your friend has contributed to those of us here because of you taking the time to post your thoughts. Take care please,,,,Abby
