NO INSURANCE AND SCARED/DEPRESSED

Hi--
I haven't been on in several months, because the thought of having to tell my story exhausts me...(I hope I'm not the only one that feels this way)..I have had depression for years, and need to be back on an antidepressant but have no insurance...the free clinic here has nothing new b/c drug reps won't go there (because they make no money)...I have to miss class to sit there from lunchtime until at least 7 p.m. (depending on what number you are, how many docs are there, and how many people they let in that day--usually only 11 or 20, so you have to get in line at lunchtime)...I have planned school around it because I have a lot of health problems that are getting severe and there is nowhere else to go...I have not gone in a couple of months b/c they have been passing me off from one doc to the other for a year and a half now to see what's wrong, and they haven't done a damn thing (physical stuff mostly)..I had a very scary weekend (suicidal) and do not want to be admitted to a psych hospital and upset my parents...I am totally stressed out and am so alone...I can barely make it out of bed to class b/c of the extreme fatigue and am ready to just sleep...I have researched all kinds of causes but with no insurance, it doesn't matter...people like me fall between the cracks of the system...white, divorced, no kids, college student, living (temporarily) with parents until graduation--so I don't qualify for Medicaid, etc...I just can't bear another day of feeling so tired and hopeless...

Don't give up! There is help out there. Even without insurance, there may be counseling on a sliding fee @ a private office, a church or a social service agency. You may qualify for totally free services because of your circumstances.

Hi Greeneye,

Sorry to hear about your situation. I agree with what has been said. I hope that you can find one of these drug programs. Thankfully I have insurance at school, or I'd be a real mess (you don't want to know how many meds I'm on!)

Nice to meet you (I don't think I was here when
