QOTW for week of Oct. 30th 2005

Hi All,
Here are this week's questions--- a mix of fun and serious!
1. Do you celebrate Halloween? If so, how?
2. What is your favorite Halloween treat?
3. Most memorable costume you've ever worn or seen?
4. When affected by depression/trauma etc, many of us learn to adapt by "wearing a mask" that smiles, functions, goes through our daily routines looking "normal." Do YOU do that and if so, is the "mask" on all the time or just around certain people or situations?
5. How do you think you've learned to hide your feelings behind a "mask?" Do you feel it is helpful or hurtful to your recovery at this time in your life?
That's it for now! Hugs, Lori

1. Do you celebrate Halloween? If so, how? yes, dress the kids in costumes and take them trick or treating, I do a little bit of decorating the house but didn't even get the large box of decorations out this year.
2. What is your favorite Halloween treat? most any candy bars
3. Most memorable costume you've ever worn or seen? most years was a clown
4. When affected by depression/trauma etc, many of us learn to adapt by "wearing a mask" that smiles, functions, goes through our daily routines looking "normal." Do YOU do that and if so, is the "mask" on all the time or just around certain people or situations? the mask has to be on most all the time especially when around others.
5. How do you think you've learned to hide your feelings behind a "mask?" Do you feel it is helpful or hurtful to your recovery at this time in your life? If I really don't want anyone to know how down I am, I am real convincing that there is nothing wrong, sometimes I just don't care as much about how I look, and sometimes I don't have as much energy to keep it all hidden. I would have to say that right now, it is probably both helpful and hurtful. I am afraid of how much I would lose if anyone really knew and how much it would damage my kids, but it is hurtful in that I won't let anyone know and it would come as a really big surprise if I did do something that would let others know how messed up I am right now.
Hi All, Good questions Lori!
