Invited to a new friend's house!

Next week, my DH will be on a business trip- and I'll be out of my mind with lonliness. I was in the grocery store today, and I was so sad missing him already that I was on the verge of tears the whole time.

Well, I told my co-worker that Dh would be gone next week, and to my shock she invited me to her house for dinner! She's a really nice woman who I want to be friends with, so usually I'd be thrilled- BUT-

I'm going to meet her family, her DH and two kids around age 10, and I'm really shy! I'm so nervous! I also don't know how to be "good with kids" since I've never really been around them, so I'm worried what if her family doesn't like me! What if they think I'm boring! What if I ruin their family dinner by being so boring and awkward!

I am already lonely, so I'm grateful for her thoughfulness- but so nervous to meet 3 new people at once! What if she doesn't like me anymore after I come over- and we work together!

Update:

I went, and brought a pot of flowers as a hostess gift.

I was so nervous that I was shaking all through dinner- and hoping no one would notice.
I had a lot of worries and anxiety(and still do) about "do they like me?".

But- they are nice, and my co-worker is really nice. I think we have a chance of becomming friends.

It is great that you found a new friend. I just made a friend myself hanging outside the student centre. It feels great doesn't it. Hold on to that feeling. And tell yourself "I am not alone, those I love will return to me soon". And as always we're here for you.

The kids were very outgoing, which was better for me because I could listen more instead of talk! I should have known they'd be nice, since their mom is.
