What NOT to say...

I'm just curious and I don't know if this is appropriate or not but this forum is named "Suicial Thoughts and Feelings" and I would like to know YOUR thoughts... What is ONE thing you would NOT want to hear from the person you were sharing your feelings with?

If I was having serious suicidal thoughts and I was talking to someone about them the ONE thing I would not want that person to throw in my face would be... "that would be a selfish act"

What is yours? Maybe this can help us in a way to discuss it?? who knows?? If this is not appropriate I apologise in advance and it maybe deleted.

Hi sadeyes,,,I hope Lori thinks your question is okay to ask, I guess as long as we put 'trigs' if our answer requires it. For me, when I am seriously in that blackness of despair, it would be if someone shrugs off how I am feeling and not knowing how dreadful depression can be, they just expect you to shake it off and get on with life and stop feeling so sorry for yourself. I truly hate the thought that someone would think I was feeling self-pity because it is actually the opposite of that,,,I feel self-hate.

Hope you are doing alright sadeyes,,,,Abby

Hi Abby as I read your reply I believe that is why so many people are afraid to discuss their feelings is exactly what you said because we are afraid they will think we are feeling sorry for ourselves! Good answer!

Those are all sooooo true Lori! No one wants to hear those. Like you said people who never have experienced our dark place will NOT understand. Thanks for replying!
