Plannning a lazy day!

tonight while at the grocery store, i saw one of my favorite treats it's the cheese with the nacho's i love that stuff but with crohn's disease i can't usually eat it because it will cause problems. well i had to get it. then i saw the hot chocolate with the marshmellows. then i saw the cookies that the little one (K) that i watch likes and then i walked past the bakery and i got a blueberry muffin and a pumpkin muffin we don't have to go anywhere tomorrow unless i decide to go to the gym in the afternoon to go swimming. so i've decided that K and I are going to have a lazy cartoon junkfood eating day and sit infront of the tv in our jammies and just pig out! but we have to make sure all the "evidence" is cleaned up by 2:30 when my dd's get home from school.

boy it felt good planning that lazy day and i can't wait for K to come tomorrow morning I told her mommy to just bring her in her jammies as we are haivng a lazy junk food day. I have clothes here for her so mommy doesn't even need to bring clothes. I'm really looking forward to this. i miss those lazy days with my kids.

Libby,

I love Nachos. My DH does too. We always get them at the movies. I love the salty taste and the hot cheese. Lately I've been loving Moon Pies, the ones with marshmallow in them. I love food...

K didn't come in her jammies she is into getting herself dressed but we did have our lazy junkfood cartoon watching day. then i got a call from my dd's school she forgot her assistant teachers present and today was her last day till after christma so I had to throw on clothes and go up to the school and while i was there the guidance counselor was there so i went into the office and we had a chat about my 9 year old dd Z and even though the turmoil in the house she said zoe is handleing things ok. I try to keep the school informed of what is going on at home so they can keep an eye at school. She suggested that i have my one teen drug tested so i called the pedi and got the paper work for that. she has to have routine bloodwork anyway so they can do it at the same time. I'm just praying that it all comes back negative. i'm not telling her about the test and if it comes back neg. i won't tell her at all if it comes back positive i will make an appt. with the pedi to talk about what to do about it.

in a way i hope it is drugs because then i have something to blame it on. but then again i pray it isn't because i don't want that kind of life for her. I just need something to blame this behavior on i guess.

So keep your fingers and toes crossed that the test comes back negative. i'm trying to get her to go tomorrow but she is refusing to go anywhere with me. i'm not telling dh about the test yet because i just don't think he can handle the idea of it yet. I may be wrong but this is a judgement call i have to make for my family's sake.

This is something I have done regularly with my kids and still do. We call it a mommy & me day. I let that child who's turn it is stay home from school and sleep in they decide where they want to go for lunch and what or where they want to go. i've drive 1 1/2 hours just for a slice of pizza! or i've taken one 2 hours away to spend the day and buy a piece of fudge. We haven't done then in a few months though.

Tonight after my 9 year old's dance class I surprised her by going to her favorite pizza place. We know the owner and the manager very well because we got here a lot. She calls them uncle Dave and Uncle Richard. all my kids love to go there. Richard was so happy to see Z today that our bill was no charge. it was nice!

Next week my son has to go for blood testing so i'll surprise him and keep him home for school and pull a mommy & me for him I know he will love it.

My two dd's don't want to even be in the same room with me right now. the 17 year old E has been asking me to make her a dr. appt. with her spine specialist (she had surger this feb will be 2 years ) she has metal rods in her back that go from her neck to her waist. and she is complaining her back hurts. so i made the appt. today but she told me she won't drive with me and wants her aunt to take her. no way not happening. so i told her if her dad could get off he could take her, he said no you can go with your mother if your back hurts that bad that you need to go to the spine specialist (at johns hopkins and a drive) then you go with your mother. so we'll see what happens with that. If she is really hurting and she drives with me then maybe she really does hurt.

I'm glad to hear that you are involved with guidance at school and keeping an eye on the kids lives. If only every parent cared so much.

I too hope that the drug test comes back negative. But I understand you would like to have something to blame it on. I felt the same relief when I was given the bipolar dx. It gave me some reason for my behaviour, although I know it's not an excuse. So I guess the point is that even if it is drugs, there is also the part of it that is regular teenage stuff and then there is the parts of our individual personality and can be changed with work and therapy. If you are having problems with this kid I'd get them into counselling. I am facing the same problem in my household. We know that the 14 yo needs to talk to a therapist but won't go and we are trying to convince mom that she needs to push her into it. Sometimes parents and other adults have to make the decisions.

I hope that I help and not hinder.

"what are "moon pies?"

Do not read if it might be a bad influence on your diet....it is a dessert.....

A moon pie is a marshmallow sandwich. A layer of cracker, then a layer of marshmallow, then one more layer of each, and it's covered in chocolate. I just checked and one is 300 calories. So if you wanted to cut it in half and put half in a ziplock bag for the next day, it's a low calorie treat!

I believe the best diet plans include the occassional- even daily- treat, as long as you don't go overboard and eat too much of it. Eat (only) when your'e hungry, and stop when you're full, and you'll be able to lose weight but also enjoy eating! That's my food philosophy, anyway.
