Prayers for a little girl

This story I am about to share is sad...if you are feeling too fragile, be careful. (No suicide or self injury related stuff in it however.)About two weeks ago--shortly after my gallbladder surgery--I walked to the corner store to get a few things... There was a short line at the register and in front of me I noticed a man, a woman and a little girl. The child seemed rather subdued, and given the weather was dressed very warmly--a furry winter coat and a knit hat on her head. As I waited patiently, the little girl happened to wander just out of her dad's line of vision and he gently called her back. Then, seeing me smiling at the little one, he explained "I'm real protective of these two --especially Karen" as he nodded to the little girl. He told me "She's a good girl but she's had a really rough time of it. She has cancer but thankfully she's in remission now." He said she'd had some intense treatments and had lost all her hair. In the meantime, Karen had come back over by her folks and had caught the tail end of the conversation. She said hello and gave a shy smile. I told her that she is beautiful and that I'd keep her in my prayers that she get well soon. She thanked me and they left.

Yesterday, I opened the morning paper. There on the front page was Karen's story and two photos of her. In one she looks exactly as she did the day I met her. In the other, she's lying on her bed and her grandmom is lying next to her and they are playing and talking. The story revealed that Karen's parents got divorced this past year and shortly after that, she was diagnosed in June with bone cancer. (Ewings Sarcoma) She'd been coping fairly well for a 7 yr old little girl who's faced a lot of changes and pain in her short life. The article said she lives with her grandmother every other day (not sure what's behind that) and with her mom the rest of the time with regular visits with dad.

Anyway, the story went on to reveal that just the other day, tests showed that live cancer cells were found in fluid surrounding her lungs. My heart aches for this child and her family and so I wrote to the reporter and offered any help I could -- including being a bone marrow donor. But that's not the reason I'm sharing this with you. What I'm asking is that if you pray, you send some prayers on behalf of Karen and her family. And if not, perhaps light a candle or send some positive thoughts out into the universe for her. If you belong to a prayer chain, add her name to it. And if none of that applies, just go up to someone you love today and TELL them--hug them a little tighter and let them know how much they mean to you! Thanks ladies! Hugs, Lori

I"m giving Karen one of my cyber hugs and sending a positive prayer for her. I'm sending her my guardian angle to watch over her tonight while she sleeps. and if there is any thing that I could do I would gladly do it. I have children and have always gone the extra mile for any child. I don't know if i'd be match or if in my health state they would even accept my marrow but i'd be happy to find out. send me any links you have. this chid has touch my soul.

It seems like you were meant to meet her for some reason. Maybe you can visit her in the hospital?

My intuition says: hospital volunteer. I'm not sure why that came up but I have good intuition. It could mean that you might enjoy volunteering at a hospital for children or that by volunteering you could see Karen again.

Does that phrase mean anything to you? I've been trying to develop my intuition over the past few years.

Oh my, that is tragic. I think that you were sent as an angel to her...

My prayers are going out to this little princess.

my computer has been down for a few days and i haven't been online because i've been sick. you said something about Main. my dd had her friend visiting here from main and just left this morning to be heading back. i feel that is another connection that i may have to this child. i'm going to write to the reporter and see if there is anything I can do for Karen. What a special child. I know that if my child were in need I wouldl hope someone would come forward and i believe in the positive influenceon others.

Does she live in Main, I sent a note to the reporter. I feel so connected to this child. What does she look like? can you describe her.
