Good morning!
Well I started up my therapy with a new therapist, Gina. Anywho, she is about my age (maybe a bit older) and I felt a real connection with her. She seems real genuine. Her office is maybe 5 minutes from the house. WOOHOOO!
Anywho, the session..... I unloaded a truckload of frustrations onto her. I discussed my depression and how I am really scared of my lows at times. I dont get the highs/lows a lot but when I do, it is usually one extreme to the other. I also talked about my adaption with dh and how I am NOW having a difficulty in it after 8/9 months after the wedding. She wants dh to come in so she can get his take on it but that may/may not happen later. I honestly think he wont do it since he thinks of it as a sign of weakness. Whatever! Some men do not get therapy. Talking to someone is not a weakness.
She gave me an assignment until the next time I see her (after the holidays).. to try to communicate with dh when I feel frustrated with him. It is hard but I am going to try. I think we may have our talk session tonight to help me pull out of my "safety zone".

Hey Darla,
In continuation of my personal outreach program, I am journaling everyday with a positive affirmation.
Hi Darla,
Thanks Lori!
Hi Darla
Sorry to hear that you DH see therapy as a sign of weakness. Therapy is anything but a sign of weakness it is a way of communication. Maybe your therapist can give you suggestion on some things to talk to him about to get him to open up. Or if you ask him to attend just one session with you with no other commitment involved maybe he will see what a difference this could make for the two of you.
If you are unable to get him to come then focus on yourself. You are the one who will benefit the most from the sessions.
I had my appt with Gina on Friday and we talked about my SIL who wants to be 10X worse/better than me.
Hey Darla,
I am so glad I am going to see Gina tomorrow.
