OK... I went to the PETA website... and I cried at what I saw. I read all about companies who did, and specifically didn't test on animals. It was heartbreaking to think of all of the well known companies who do these awful things. :-(

I highly recommend you all check it out:
http://www.peta.org/

I'm attaching the document with the companies that do/don't animal test in case any of you just want to check that out. It is from the PETA website.

I just had to say though. I love love love The Body Shop! It's one of my favourite stores in our mall.

Hugs!

I have been a vegetarian for 20 years now. It was a New Year's resolution that stuck! I know this is a discussion on products that are cruelty free. Is it common knowledge that fabric softeners are an animal product? I didn't know this for a long time, but was shocked when I found it out. I have called several manufacturers and none of them seem to have plans to make any changes in their formulas.

i don't use either dryer sheets or the liquid kind, but i'm fairly sure that you can get a vegan version of one or the other. check www.veganstore.com and www.veganessentials.com

I was told that it's both dryer sheets and liquid. They use some derivative of lard. They don't put that on the packaging though. There is no mention of exactly where the softeners come from or what they are made of!

If you really need to soften your clothes, white vinegar works well. No lard.
