What do you eat for breakfast? The traditional breakfast consists of eggs and dairy, particularly milk. I can't eat dairy, I am lactose intolerant and it only gets worse over the years. I used to love oatmeal, but now when I eat it my stomach hurts. So what do some of you eat for breakfast?

Can you drink and do you like soy milk?
I buy this really yummy "Luxury" muesli from my local grocers and it is very tasty and filling. The plain soy milk has a slightly sweet taste too which I find nice with the cereal.
I do eat dairy occasionally so then I will have cottage cheese and fruit for breakfast.
You could make a fruit shake out of various fruits and juices.
Some folks like soy cheese but I don't care for it.....if you do, you could have a toasted cheese sandwich for breakfast....or a pita wrap made with soy cheese
Have you tried other hot cereals like cream of wheat? maybe it's the oats that you are sensitive to.
When I didn't eat eggs I would make muffins with dried egg sustitute and they weren't bad....a bit crumbly in texture....but nice warmed up with some jam :)

Hope this helps!

My usual breakfast? Dry corn flakes and juice. I got into the habit of eating cereal dry when I was having trouble with lactose intolerance, not knowing that I was lactose intolerant because of the wheat I was eating (I have Celiac Disease and eating the protien in wheat, barley, rye and oats causes damage to my gut). Of course, I eat

I generally go w/ smoothies - very yummy & very versitile. I've got one of those hand blender thingy's (good ones can often run as cheaply as $20 or $30) and a tall tumbler - basically the size of a large slurpee which I use to mix up a smoothie. The ease of just a cup and rinsing the lower blender attachment makes for a quick breakfast. I also keep straws on hand. The basic recipe I use is ice, fruit (frozen or fresh), liquid (orange juice, blueberry puree juice and vanila soy milk are my faves). Many mornings I also add about a 1/2 cup of low fat yogurt or soy ice cream, but w/ the ice, you can easily omit this and still have a substantial shake. Try to put the ingredients in that order, as the liquid makes it easier for the blender thingy to slice through the ice at the bottom of the cup.

The cool thing I also like about the smoothies is that it sort of gently eases your digestive system into the day. I'm no health expert, but something about the smoothies just seems much more gentle to break that over night fast than breads and veges.
