No, because if I got mad at everyone who eats meat, then I'd be mad at everybody I know. Its a waste of time and energy for me. So I just concentrate on my own diet.

I have had problems with people getting mad at *me* for not eating meat. They usually get offended and start getting all huffy. Like they think that I believe my diet is better than theirs. I also have put a stop to people giving me lectures on nutrition and "the four food groups". The four food groups is from the 1950s. We now have moved past that and have revised standards for nutrition.

it mostly depends on the context of the meat-eating -- the omnivores that i respect and like have a very different attitude toward eating meat than the people i get annoyed at. for instance, i get really irritated and disgusted by people who:

LOL! the four food groups! when someone starts preaching to me about that I say:
Oh? you mean to tell me that the four food groups aren't fat, sugar, salt and caffeine?

Then they start laughing and I can change the subject.

At my workplace there a lot of us who eat in the lunchroom and we all eat different things. Often they will ask me what I'm eating and how I've prepared it. They all know that I'm vegetarian. Over the last year I've noticed that quite a few of them are now eating meatless meals and are always eager to tell me about what they made for their family that was meatless ;)

I can't say I get mad... annoyed with some attitudes and frusterated with the status quo, but I'm not angry with the person.

I cannot understand how people can be so cavalier about taking a life, and sometimes my brain is calculating... the bacon in the salad dressing, the chicken as the main course, the gelatin in the dessert... exactly how many animals have to die to make a single meal? The clam bakes that as far as I can tell use every available type of fish and

i guess i dont really get mad at them either...i just don;t understand why they would eat meat. i think "meat" and i think "dead animal" and "suffering". my brother killed a partridge with a stick the other day...how can i relate to someone like that?!? he was camping and he did eat it...but so cruel!! i love my brother, but we are so different when it comes to this, and i just find it hard to relate to him. its hard to have a conversation with him when we don't agree on anything. one of us justs ends up saying "yeah...." and that is the and of it.

I do get a little miffed, but what really makes me steamed is finding places that do not offer a vegetarian alternative meal. My daughter went w/ her camp to a local water park and the lunch choices were: hotdog, chicken nuggets, or hambuger. For some reason I see it as a form of descrimination.

On the brighter side, I was waiting for a doc's appt and happened to flip through their "heart healthy" diet pamphlet. I've seen it at some grocery stores and decided to take a look at the recomendations. Among the guidelines were having at least 3 vegetarian dinners per week and tofu sausages for breakfast. I was very encouraged to see a more vegetarian lifestyle prescribed as a healthy lifestyle for everyone.

I don't think it's discrimination as much as lack of thought- people so used to their eating styles that it doesn't occur to them that a meatless meal is necessary. Letting places know that they lost money because they can't feed a decent percentage of the population- actually telling management,
