What are your thoughts, experiences in regards to the "obnoxious vegetarian" stereotype? You know, like Ron White talks about his vegetarian friend who goes on about "meat is murder" and the environmental impact of cows raised for beef at a restaurant while they're eating. I've actually went out of my way with my dh to not be confrontational about being vegetarian (even though I try to get as close to vegan as I can afford) because he'd only known people who fit the stereotype before my returning to vegetarian (this was long before he met me however) and I daily had to deal with comments like "That's not real food" and the like until he seemed to realize I wasn't going to question his choices or stop cooking him hamburgers when we could afford the ground beef.

LOL that's cool your MIL is supportive now. My mom can be rather rude about me being vegetarian as well and my sister is inordinately amused by the idea of bugs going into the vegetable oil at fast food restaurants, making them "not vegetarian" anymore *rolling my eyes*. I thankfully have not gotten the staunch PETA support thing; they do some good things, but I don't totally support them, some of the things they do. What really annoys me about that line of thinking is that it reduces vegetarianism down to just one issue. I have many reasons why I'm vegetarian; animal cruelty is only one of them.

Do you know anything more about the blood type diet? I haven't heard about that before

I respect other peoples choices so I try not to be obnoxious about being a vegetarian. The exception to that is when I get the rude comments from obnoxious carnivores! I do not totally support PETA, but I know enough about animal cruelty to turn most peoples stomachs...so I usually leave my opinions unvoiced but if someone is disrespecting my choices a few comments like "I eat like this because I choose not to eat the rotting corpse's of my fellow planetmates" is usually enough to shut them up. What really gets to me is when people say things to my kids about the way they eat! Some people have way to much nerve! Most of my family has been ok about it, I am not the first vegetarian in the family, my brother was, so I think he got all the heat and everyone was used to it by the time i decided to be a vegetarian. Nods, comments to vegetarian kids gets me too. Of coruse then I can't stand anyone who thinks to question a family's choices by challenging the children. As a homeschooler I get plenty of that :( . One quip I love in response to carnivores is from "Herb the Vegetarian Dragon"... "I don't ask you to give up meat, why do you ask me to give up vegetables." Well I think that's probably more of a paraphrase than a direct quote :D but you get the idea.

Hmm how pathetic, I'm 32 and don't know my blood type lol. I'll have to ask my mother if she knows it. I don't know my kids either, is that real handy info to have? I read all of their medical history when I adopted my kids and never saw anything about blood type.

I guess if you don't have health problems (or health insurance like me) it might just not occur to you to know your blood type. Also, I got married in Ohio, where you don't have to have a blood test to get your license. On the boys, it's possible that the doctors didn't think to test the blood type with every thing else the boys have needed.

I'm totally an obnoxoius vegetarian. But, I'm sorry --- meat is murder. It's KILLING SOMETHING so that you can enjoy the taste of it dead. sick and disgusting. And, if other's need to "ignore" the fact that what they eat is DEAD, to bad for them. I consider myself and animal activist and an activist wouldn't stand by and allow ignorance to prosper.

DH who hasn't even been veg for all that long is also a bit outspoken. MY ds... well, he's an obnoxious vegetarian at it's most purest! He's always SHOCKED at someone's choice to eat an animal over a veggie burger.
