1) If you have children, are you raising them to be vegetarians? Or if you're planning to have children, would you want to raise them vegetarian?
2) Are there any political stances you have that you feel are connected to, make sense holding along with vegetarianism?

2) Are there any political stances you have that you feel are connected to, make sense holding along with vegetarianism? I'm not as "granola" as some, but I feel I have a general worldview of which vegetarism is just a part of. I'm a pacifist, a supporter of zero population growth, anti-nuclear weapons. I'm into holistic living, attachment parenting. For me, homeschooling is wrapped up in my vegetarianism and animal cruelty beliefs, although that's not an experience common to all homeschoolers.

My dh is veg too (went veg about 6 yrs ago... right before we were married) so -- yah, our ds is vegetarian! And he's ALL VEGETARIAN, he's the most out spoken vegetarian 3 year old I've ever met! LOL.

Well, I'm not a republican. That's a given! lol
1) If you have children, are you raising them to be vegetarians? Or if your planning to have children, would you want to raise them vegetarian? In our house they are limited to what we buy, in other houses and at restaurants they make their own choices. I don't think that being "forced" to do something is the same as doing so because of your own conscience. Also, our kids were adopted as toddlers/preschoolers so they were not accustomed to a vegetarian lifestyle. My youngest has issues with food-stashing it in his room and hoarding dinner leftovers because he used to not get enough to eat-I am not going to add to his neurosis right now by limiting his diet.
2) Are there any political stances that you feel you are connected to, make sense holding along with vegetarianism? Pacifism, our Science of Mind religion (www.religiousscience.org) zero population growth, ending world poverty, all fit in well with a vegetarian lifestle :)

Well, my kiddo's like very little meat, so all the veggie substitutes have gone over really well with them!

LOL you listed a few that I forgot :)
Finn is funny about hunting. He's heard the "survival hunting is only acceptable if you really have no other food choices" speech from me enough times he can say it himself :D. I need to make it down to the farmers market again. I don't remember any fruits or vegetables really, tho there were a bunch of plants

Hehe at your outspoken 3yr old. I love how outspoken kids can be on meaningful subjects. Finn's really quick to defend homeschooling, even to his beloved grandma (my mom).
LOL @ not

Awww he's still hoarding? Poor little guy. Have you asked his pediatrician about that? I wonder if he'll ever grow out of that, get comfortable with the fact that you'll always provide food for him.

I nevcr thought of mentioning it to the pediatrician, but his school social worker at the early childhood center helped me make a snack chart that showed when his snacks would be so he would not be in distress over when the next meal came. Her main goal was to get him to go an hour at a time without eating, since it was not good for his digestion to be constantly eating/digesting all day long. She was very helpful and now he only hoards in times of stress-like before we take a family trip. I'll ask his pediatrician next time he goes in for his ADHD
