Another bird story...but this one

is fraught with tension and suspense! (fraught?)

I went to bed really late last night and, as always happens when you go to bed late, I couldn't get to sleep. The blankets were tangled, the dogs were too close, the cat kept walking back and forth across me. And the birds kept flying around, even with the light out! After getting up twice to try to rectify things, I settled down (hopefully) for the night...or what was left of it...and then Rosie got off the bed. Now this is not a serious matter and normally wouldn't keep me up, except that she didn't lie down next to the bed as she usually does. She squirmed and wriggled her way around the corner where one of the birdstands stands (oops), trying to get under it to the other side of the bed. This was suspicious, so I got up YET AGAIN, looked around...nothing...looked under the bed...nothing...swiped my hand and arm in a long arc under the bed and found...ONE OF THE BABY BIRDS! .It was the one who hasn't really left the nest yet. Apparently he left it sometime yesterday and managed to fall/fly/flutter to the floor where he was stuck. No wonder his folks kept flying around. Anyway, I picked him up and got him back into the nest (which he hasn't left again since!)and everyone settled down...even me, and I was finally able to go to sleep. I just kept thinking today, though, of what would have happened if I hadn't found him before Rosie, Freddie or the cat did. Poor little thing.

Awww, that poor little baby! Maybe Rosey was trying to tell you he was down there, not trying to eat the little guy! That baby sounds like he's not doing so hot, maybe we should give him a name like "Dinky", hope he makes it to fly the nest.

Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight Kat. I think your bed is more crowded than mine!! LOL!

That was a very cute story, Kat. I thoroughly enjoyed it. :)

I should tell you about my nites a about 6 years ago

when I lived alone w/ my dd in an apt. and didn't realize the

firplace flume (sp?) was open...in summer...so all the mosquitos would

get in, and I spent the night fighting mosquitos! FUNFUNFUN! LOL...

In hindsight, at least.

Good girl Rosie! I'm sure she was just concerned...right? And all turned out well. It was your maternal intuition not letting you settle in for the night while the baby was out of the nest!

I agree that Rosie was trying to tell you about the bird, she wouldn't hurt it, right? I'm so glad you found it and put it back with his family. Hugs, Gabby

Yuk! I hate mosquitoes. I remember a camping trip we went on once where we could not get away from them...even squished down inside sleeping bags with the tops held shut. That's one good thing about this area...lots of slugs and fleas but hardly any mosquitoes.

I think Rosie's biggest concern was about a possible late night snack! LOL
