May already??? Good grief, where have the months gone? It's a beautiful morning here, only flaw is the noise from the construction crew. Grrrr!! NOT a nice way to wake up! LOL! Anyway, God willing, we won't have any more frosts and we can pull the shorts out of the dresser drawer! :D

I remember in elementary school we had a May Day celebration, even did a May pole dance thing. Anyone else do that?

I played hookey yesterday, actually didn't feel so good, all that *&%#* barium was like a ball of concrete in my tummy! But I just needed a day to myself. Got a few things done, had lunch with ds and my girlfriend, all in all a pretty nice day!

Have yourselves a Happy May Day !!

Hugs, Pam

Yes, we actually had a maypole when I was pretty small...don't remember it as we got much older, tho.

Today would have been my Mom and Dad's 55th anniversary, too, if he had lived this long.

May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii and we have a neat

tradition at all public schools. On May Day,

as far back as the 1930's....each grade in each

school performs a dance from a different country

around the world...makes for a very neat, colorful

and interesting May Day program! and all the

video cameras come out.

Have a great day! love, Cindy

It is amazing....May already!

We did not have a May Pole, but we did trade "May baskets" with my friends when we were in elementary school. These were tiny baskets with little trinkets and/or candy in them.

That was in Illinois when I was pretty small. I don't think I've seen it done around here though!

Hope you are feeling better today and Happy May Day to you!

Hugs,

Sooze

OH! I remembered something else we used to do (my DDs and I) but haven't done for years.

We used to make little paper baskets and fill them with flowers and put them on the doors at my Mom's and my aunts and a couple of the neighbors. May baskets! I kinda forgot about that! My aunts loved that little surprise on their door! They wouldn't be expecting them, having forgotten about the year before! LOL!

Happy May Day Pam, yes we had a May pole in school, but I most remember the May baskets, with the flowers. Ds's school still does that, but at his age (8th grade) I don't expect anything. I was fun while he was in grade school though, he always brought something special home. Charlie

we never had a may pole dance here but when I was a child we did do May baskets, where you hung it on the door and knocked and then ran away,(usally a boy would hang it on the door of a girl, and tha girl would hang it on the door of a boy)If you saw who hung it there you would chase them and if you caught them you gave them a kiss.I remember one year I got one hung on our door so my mother told me that I had to chase him and give him a kiss when I caught him,I didn't run that fast because there was no way I wanted to catch him,I can remember him stopping and telling me that he would wait for me but I told him to keep going,I was at an age where I didn't want anything to do with boys,LOL Di
