Yesterday was a long day...

Started w/dropping of S16 at the HS at 7:30am, taking care of a small matter there which is becoming a mountain, & heading up to Las Vegas to take MIL to her chemo session. Haven't seen her for two weeks (was her break week last week) but over the past 2 weeks she's lost about 20 more pounds (now about 96lbs.) & was willing (only because she's SO weak now) to let me squire her around in a wheelchair.

Doc decided to stop the chemo finally. This is the first time she's not gone in there under her own steam telling him she basically feels FINE! She could barely muster up the strength to tell him she felt pretty rotten. No pain - just so weak anymore. Hasn't been able to hold anything down, even water, since her CAT scan last week so is severely dehydrated. He set her up in the chemo room to be hydrated intravenously (a three hr process) before he had me take her to the hospital ER to be admitted for X-rays to check for abdominal blockage & hopefully the primary doctor thru her Pacificare Insurance coverage would then see fit to have her admitted to a care facility if not the hospital (depending on the outcome of the x-ray). We were at the emergency room by 3pm. She was finally put into a bed by about 6pm (been sitting in a wheelchair all this time), & finally taken to x-ray about 8pm. A doctor came around to present test results about 10pm (no blockage found) & calls were made to her oncologist & then to the on-call primary care physician. He came around around 1am - was quite concerned about not being able to find a pulse in her left foot - so she was then sent down to ultrasound for a scan which was done about 2:30am & they did find a weak one. They started her finally on more intravenous fluids & potassium & said she was going to be transferred to a care home in North Las Vegas. Finally about 4am they recalled to find out where the transport was - & had to recommunicate all that had been ordered - they weren't going to accept her because of her low potassium so hadn't sent anyone. They got there about 4:30am. Then I headed home. Figured I'd just as soon sleep in my own bed for the day than try to sleep at her house, not sleep well & still try to be home for a meeting at the HS at 6pm tonite. Got home about 7am - got the boys off to school & slept well most of the day - will really sleep well tonite.

Meeting in an hour, work tomorrow, class tomorrow nite & Sat morning, tho last meeting of that one. Somewhere in there have to finish up a couple chapters & review for my final in the other class Monday nite. Still haven't touched base w/D27. She called last Monday nite while I was at class to let me know her other Grandma (my ex's Mom) had died Friday. As usual been a busy week around here. Maybe next week I can start cleaning my house which I've neglected for months now, seriously decide what will happen for DS16's graduation bash in 3 wks, & get on w/whatever plans are in the works for celebrating my folks 50th this summer (finally got some "firm" dates from my BIL & sis this week).

Have a good one all..

Wow, Jo! What a whirlwind! Hold yourself together, girl! Take care of yourself, ok? Sorry about your MIL. Doesn't sound too good. It's good of you to take her where she needs to go and be there for her.

Good luck on exams...I'm having a tough quarter myself.

Oh, Jo, you must be exhausted! What a day and night for you! Glad you got some sleep in your own bed though. You are one busy lady, makes me tired just reading your post! :D

Maybe now that the chemo has stopped, you'll be able to get some much needed rest. Good luck with the finals!
