machine contest! Yeah! Boilermakers! And lots of the team members are women! We'll have to either stay up late to watch Dave Letterman or record his show Wed. night as they're going to show their machine that takes 34 steps to crush a can. A link to the story: http://news.uns.purdue.edu/hp/Rube.Letterman.html And then my favorite piece of news for today...Mr. Virtue Bennett has gambled over $8 million away. So in his books of virtuous behavior there's one little vice that he didn't preach about. As the Church Lady would say...How convenient! Sorry just my bit of Cinco de Mayo schadenfreude. -BB

34 steps to crush a can??? What a riot!! That must have been a really fun competition. Sounds like something ds would love, the irony would pique his interest. But he was always a taker-aparter, never did put anything back together!! LOL!

BB, are you from Indiana originally? I can't remember. Mind like Swiss cheese!

I'm a native Californian but I attended school in Indiana and met dh at Purdue. My parents were both native Hoosiers who got homesick and dragged most of us back to Indiana. Only two aunts and a few cousins left in Indiana at this point. My 35th high school reunion is in Lafayette, IN this July and dh is encouraging me to go to it since he had fun at his 30th (and he'd love to go walk around campus, I'm sure). lol I'm not sure yet. I remember Indiana summers-hot and sticky with mosquitos and chiggers! lol (Also dh didn't have an ex who will probably attend with his 4th or 5th wife and latest child that is younger than his grandson by 5-7 years. lol I really didn't know how to shop back then!) The Rube Goldberg Contest has been around since probably before we were in college. It is really fun engineering and also fun to watch the "machines" do their do their thing. Hugs, BB
