Holy cow!!! Took dd shopping for a "corset" type thingie today, and about dropped dead at the price tag! $68!!! Thank heavens she won't need another one for the rest of her life!!! LOL!! She's going to prom Friday night in Huntington, WV. Works out great cuz she can wear the gorgeous copper gown she wore for homecoming here and no one will recognize it! :D

Ok, need some input. Dd is having trouble with one teacher and the attendance woman at school. Tell me what you think. Her history teacher spoke very snotty to her today, told her she doesn't have a snowball's chance in h*ll of passing. When dd said something about making it up in summer school, this woman got very sarcastic and said, "well then, don't bother to do the work, why even come to class?" Now, dd is trying so hard to pass all her classes, and history is her favorite subject. Does she need this attitude from her teacher? And, the attendance woman is giving her a hard time about her doctor's notes, saying they aren't "specific enough" so she gives dd an UNexcused for two whole weeks that she was off for her "rear" surgery!! The surgeon's note said dd could return to school when she could sit comfortably for an extended period, and dd's classes are an hour and a half long! This idiot says to dd, well you could have stayed out six months with that note! Dd said, but I didn't, did I? (Good for her!) Same thing about her sinus and ear infection two weeks ago, note said return to school when temp stays below 100, and it was still 99.6 when dd went back. Again, UNexcused! I swear, I'm going to strangle someone, and it's NOT dd!!! Poor kid doesn't need this garbage! Keep in mind, her grade drops one letter for every five days unexcused! Sooo...I called and gave the assistant principal a piece of my mind, and he's going to talk to Ms. History. Arrrgggghhhhh!!!!

To top it all off, dd saw the surgeon today and guess what! We get to go through it all AGAIN!!! Cyst is back, there's a small hole at the incision site, not the huge cavern she had after the first surgery, thank God. We're going to try to hold off until school is out, as long as it "doesn't get out of hand", he says. Could we catch a break here, Lord??? All I can say is, those Thunder from Down Under boys had better watch out, I'm ready for a wild and crazy time!!! Look out, Vegas!!

Well, never a dull moment here, I'm going back to work tomorrow, just to get some rest!

Hugs to everyone!!!!! Pam

Pam, I am just ready to spit nails at the stupid antics of those so called teachers! I mean really, a kid is trying her best and to be treated like that! So exactly WHO is the adult here! GRRR...

One piece of advice...those teachers and attendance people have superiors...EVERYBODY has A BOSS! I learned when DD was teaching school that if there is a problem that you feel is not being handled properly or being resolved in a decent manner, you have the RIGHT and PRIVLEDGE to take that problem to the Board of Education at the school OR register a complaint to the STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION! Believe me, almost every school official would do ANYTHING to not have a complaint sent to the State Board of Education! Remember, that school is there for your CHILD and that teacher is a paid EMPLOYEE! Don't let them bamboozle you!

Sorry to hear that DD is having more "rear end trouble" so to speak. Hopefully she can hang on till school is out and then get it taken care of totally.

Hang in there girl! As Harry Truman said..."Give'em Hell!"

Ok, you just found one of my hot buttons!!! I have had some of the same experience that you have with snotty attendance people/school secretaries. Each and every time I had to go to the VP. Those (usually) women virtually run the schools or at least think that they do, and consequently, they think they can be verbally inappropriate and make unqualified decisions regarding attendance issues such as your DD's. Oh this makes me really hot!

All I could ever do was keep going to the VP, because no one else was going to advocate for my DD. (this was the one who was PG her senior year...we had all sorts of problems on top of that...the school sec didn't like that she wasn't participating in PE 7-9 mo along(?!)) Good grief!

I guess what I'm saying is, that I think many of those people have too much power, or think that they do. And they like to use it to put up barriers, etc. for the students. I think they get a charge out of it.

Pam I am not sure your dd can get a break here. That snotty history teacher might have been having a bad day but she sure didn't need to take it out on your daughter. As for that attendence person I sure hope the principle gets them both. I would sure keep after both of them and make sure they understand just what the problems have been. I am so sorry to hear the cyst is back. Hope this time when he works on it will stay gone.

Girl we are going to give the Thunder a real workout!!

Hope today is a good one for you

Love

Mary

Pam that is one expensive piece of underwear! Sorry to hear about the teacher's attitude but glad you went and talked to the asst. Principal about it. teachers sometimes get so tired of hearing the same old thing from kids and when something truly comes up they tend to fluff it off. I would also explain to the doctors what's been going on and insist they write a more convincing excuse note. Hugs, Bernie

I do keep you and your family in my prayers. It must be totally different to be handling all of this on your own. My hat goes off to you, girl. BIG HUGS my friend. ..Free

Wow that teacher sounds like she has it out for your dd! I would probably talk to the principal and explain how you find this unacceptable.

About the corset about 20 years ago after my back surgery I had to buy one and paid 75. for it... that blew me away but seeing as I had to wear it all the time for months guess it was not too bad.

Hang in there!

hugs, Lor

as a teacher and a mother...I can say that the attitude your dd is encountering is not at all helpful..what dd needs is some kindness and encouragement at this point..I would say ..DO you Best!...go see someone higher up in the chain of command...our attendance person can be a bit of a hard-nose too...but in that job..you have to be...sometimes...my dd had problems with a teacher in HS..when talking to her didn't help..I went to the principal...tell them that you , dd and they have the same goals:..to see her successfully complete school...and everyone needs to work together on that...my thoughts..good luck...Dutch
