MIL was discharged from the care center today. We did take her home to her house so she can try it but we will be bringing her to our house really soon - maybe even tomorrow. They brought her a walker & wheelchair this afternoon, but she's so weak she can hardly lift herself off a chair or bed and when she does manage to walk herself from one room to the next she can hardly catch her breath. The HMO will send a home-care nurse daily for a week to provide some physical therapy & check on her, then would cut that down to every other day for a week then cut it down some more but from the looks of today, it won't get that far. I think she will figure it out for herself when she can't get herself out of bed during the night or in the morning that it just isn't going to work for her to be home by herself & it's time to come stay w/us & switch over to Medicare/hospice care. It's going to take a couple days to get her seen by a local doctor here to get the hospice care started here so we can request a hospital bed to help. She's not much more than 90 lbs. right now, but I've had a difficult time helping her pull herself back up the bed when she shifts down too far - but ya do what ya gotta do... I've got my teen boys here most the time - but they don't have a clue at this point what all this truly MEANS - so far it's just been words that seem to go in one ear & out the other. Gonna be an interesting weekend - she's stubborn & independent but knows what's going on & has agreed the next step will be to come here, we're just trying to let her make the decision when she knows it has to be made & not make her feel like we're making it for her - tho she shouldn't even be there by herself tonite a far as we're concerned.
