yesterday! There was a little problem with the respirator tubes in the way but they worked around that. She held her for 2 hours skin to skin and said that this is the

most wonderful feeling in the world. She was feeling that her baby belonged to the respirator not to her and said she felt like it really did not feel like her baby before this.

Alan (Nikki's dh) gave her some kisses and took lots of video of moms first hold on her. I hope he took some still shots too for us. I am so glad that we bought them the video recorder the other week, this baby will have her life story on film.

Akiva made it through the heart surgery and although it took her a day and half to get over the anesthetic she was doing great. She is no longer getting pain meds, but is on antibiotics so that there will be no infection form the surgery.

She has to have the respirator on at about 20% but that is not too bad.. soon she will be without it again.

Well seems like it has been a good weekend for our little one.. and now I so want to go back and see her... this weekend to come will seem like months instead of days.

Well Just wanted to update you all on her progress!

Hugs, Lor

Awww, Lor, that's wonderful!!! It's so important for Mom and Baby to bond, and so hard when they're all hooked up. So glad to hear this great news! It sounds like little Akiva is a fighter, and a survivor, I just know she's going to do just fine!

I hope Nikki had a nice first Mother's Day! And you too, Granny!!!

Love and hugs, Pam

So glad little Akvia had a good weekend. One day at a time and before you know it it will be one week at a time, then by month. Keeping her, along with her parents and grandparents in my prayers. Remember, I have a grand-nephew that started out his life this year much like little Akvia. He is almost at the weight he can go home and is showing everyone that he is a fighter. Akvia is a fighter too!!! BIG HUGS. ..Free

Lori, I'm so happy to hear Nikki finally got to hold Akiva and that she's doing so well. I prayed for her all weekend, not knowing what was happening. Dh had is computer with him, but we never had the time to check what had been happening. Sounds like she's doing so well, it's amazing how those tiny babies can come thru like this. I will continue to pray for her healing and strength. Charlie

Lor, that is such wonderful news. Bet Nikki's heart was about to burst with joy. Akiva certainly is a fighter. One little thought came to mind......in some of the hospitals here they have premies, when they can be held, lay skin to skin on momma's chest or tummy. From what the monitors show and the outcome of this, appears to really help the wee ones. Like I said, just a thought. Can't hurt to mention it tho. LOL

Hugs,

Rain
