As of yesterday Akiva is now weighging isn at 700 grams which is between
1lb 8 oz and 1 lb 9oz I think. She is doing pretty good, still a long
ways to go but seems she is not about to give up any time soon.
Melissa got to see Akiva for the first time and was so excited, but
Brittany being under 12 years was not able to go in, so she was a little
disappointed but did understand.
Yesterday Nikki held Akiva for the second time and I was in there with
her when she did this. I sat and watched for over 3 hours, and loved
every moment of it, but I had to go and get Brittany as Al was taking
Melissa in to see the doctor.
While we were in Vancouver something got into Melissas eye and she got a
major infection, so we took her to the emergency room... good thing too as
they said that it was quite bad and she could have lost her sight with this.
Anyhow they put her on antibiotics and said we had to stay over night one
more night and then if after 5 pm Sunday things were better we would be
able to go home, if not she would be admitted and be on an intervenous drip.
Good things happened and the infection started to go away with the meds,
so we got to go home last night. the good thing was this was not contagious
so we were not too worried that she was in with Akiva.
Well I had better go get the laundry done and stuff always so much to do when
we get home. Oh well was worth it.
Wishing you all a very happy day!
Hugs Lori

Melissa was taken care of. But I am so curious
as to what got in her eye...very strange.
Maybe the next time you go down, they can sort of
bring Akiva near a small window so that Brittany
can see her?

Cindy
~*~ Aloha to all .... ~*~
the Intestive care unit of the special Needs nursery and that nmeans she is behind a guarded door then 2 other doors and no one is allowed to enter the first door without being 12 and admitted by the desk guard, so guess we will jsut have to wait until Akiva is a little bigger and stronger and moved to Intermediate care then Maybe hopefully she will be allowed to see her. They really do have a good reason for not allowing kids in though, 2 years ago someone was in and the whole nursary was quarantined and there was alot of illness due to the one person coming in. Oh well soon she will be able to meet her in person, but for now videos and stuff is all she will be allowed to see.
Hugs, Lor
Glad you caught that eye infection in time...Don't want to mess with vision!
