My 50th birthday is coming up this summer. I'd be curious to know how some of you spent your 50th birthday.

I was not looking forward to my 50th (last year) It was really awful. I actually felt sick thinking about it. I made everyone promise no cards, no cake no Happy Birthday greetings! I wanted nothing - just a very quiet day. If anyone sent cards my DH would open them. I finally looked at them about a month later. It took a while to convince everyone that I really meant it. Especially my sisters. I have 4 sisters older than me so it was easy for them to think I would enjoy it. The day went very quietly - the way I wanted it. Now it only bothers me when I think about. I think inside I feel 40! My DH is 7 years younger than me so that really helps. I will be 51 in July so I hope I will be used to it by then. It is after all just a number! ( If I hear that one more time I may scream) Some look forward to it some don't. Most important is that you spend it the way that you want to spend it - not how others think you should. It is after all YOUR day!

Since I seem to have the memory of a gnat these days, I just asked my dh. He was telling me that he thought I spent it cleaning house, cooking and washing the windows. Well I was believing him til he said that bit about windows. I do have the wherewithall to know that I don't do other people's children and I don't do windows! lol Then I remembered how I spent it. I drove up to Montana to move my mom into an assisted care apartment and had my sisters buy her "housewarming" gifts as their gifts to me. Oh, and I hit a suicidal antelope that day too so I also spent the day hearing that the damage of my car wasn't that bad and forgetting that the handle needed to be pulled to get the water to run at a good rate to wash blood off my car. lol All-in-all I guess it should have been a bummer but it really didn't seem that bad. lol really I kinda like what Tyne Daley (Cagney&Lacey and Judging Amy's mom)for her 50th, but I've been thinking that maybe I'll do it for my 60th. She shaved her head in an idea of a fresh new beginning. Since it took me years to even get my ears pierced, I can't see getting a tattoo but a shaved head...Oh, wait a minute. Reality check! She lives in S CA! My birthday is in October and I live at over 6,000 ft. brrr Think I'll rethink that idea. Hope you come up with something really eventful and ending up in Hawaii is a great way to cap an excellent adventure. Hugs, BB

Well, I think I blocked it out of my mind, because I can't remember what I did that day! It wasn't that long ago - well, 2 1/2 years ago. But, I do know that I was NOT looking forward to it, did not want any kind of celebration and though I didn't eat a whole cake (like Mindy Girl did), I probably ate something bad for me! I think dh took me out for dinner at our favorite restaurant, so it wasn't a completely bad day! Hope yours is a whole lot better! JL

WELL, I'M NOT THERE YET! lOL. I've got a bit to go, BUT, I started last year telling dh that I want to go to Hawaii for my 50th. He has no interest in going there, so I thought I better start on him early. (I may end up going with a friend or my sisters if he decides he doesn't want to go) Or maybe a cruise. Now I'm serious about this. I have no qualms about turning 50....closer to retirement, right? I may feel differently next year though, lol. Whatever you decide, I hope it's memorable, and something YOU want to do. (((hugs))) Charlie

I always thought I'd have a big black bash on my 50th but ended up not doing anything. My daughter came home and brought some presents but I think that was about it.

Dh tunred 50 five days before me, so we celebrated together. Some of our friends gave us a small party and it was nice to to laugh and be with them for the evening. We didn't do anything big. Gabby

HI Alice

I spent my 50th doing not a whole lot of anything. Got wonderful flowers from my children though and taken for a great steak dinner.

Hugs
