Feeling very tender today....

Ok, for a reminder--- remember that I am a full-time student at University, right?

Well, this a.m. I went to my Research Methods class, taught by a Ph.D. She (for the second or third time) went into a rant about how much we've learned in this class that will push us ahead of anyone out in the world who's never studied research design before. (I suspect that this is her way of patting herself on the back for sharing all her wealth of knowledge with us dumkopfs.)

THEN...she went into a new rant about medical research and doctors that do not give good care to older people and that "you YOUNG people" will need to really listen to what they're saying to your parents as they age, because the docs will dismiss them because they're old!

THEN, she added that she herself had been at the hands of a quack some years ago when she had cancer of the leg. The doctor cut her horizontally instead of vertically, causing permanent nerve damage. She has no feeling in her toes on that leg! That was a really long rant by her!

Well, girls, I sit right in front of her and I know I looked stunned and ready to burst into tears at any moment. It was all I could do not to leave class. She can see that I walk with a cane and do so with great difficulty at that! Of course, she doesn't know that I am going to have major invasive surgery in 16 days and that I'm already scared half to death! But, it just seemed so unnecessary. She's gone off on the medical community once before in class.

Do you think I should say anything to her? I only have her for another 10 days.

Red--I would wait to the end of the classes, if I could, and tell her that you certainly did not appreciate her ranting! Maybe a swift whack with your cane would also help bring the point home to her! Your surgery will go fine and then you can also dance in front of her and go "neener-neener-neener!" Am praying for you as well! Kathie

(((Red))) This is the first I've heard about what you are having done, and I want to tell you that I will be praying for you that all is well.

Now, about this teacher/instructor, whatever she is. What I gathered from what you said, she is a very bitter person, probably for reasons other than what she rants about. Everyone has their own opinion about things , but for her to think that her opinion should be your opinion too is ignorant. Does she discuss this in every class? If so, I think I would walk out and when you have to give a reason, if it's not apparent by you walking out w/a cane and struggling at that, tell her how ignorant she is.

This has me really upset. You don't need this, so sorry for getting out of control.

This is a very scary time for you, I'm sure, but don't let the ignorance of one person like this affect you like this. If anything, feel sorry for her for being so dumb and opinionated.

I hope we get to talk before your surgery. Email me if you want.

Love you gal and sending a big comforting hug. Terry
