Last night talked to Nikki and at that
| Tue, 06-03-2003 - 7:15pm |
time she said AKiva was doing great, she was up to 2 lbs 3 oz and they had moved her to Intermediate care, but this morning things have changed drastically. Akiva was put back into Intensive care and has been re-intubated at 100 percent air, she has been taken off milk again and they shaved her head and have inserted an iv into there. She was having another blood transfusion when Nikki called me and they told Nikki that AKiva is septic, meaning that she is very ill with a major infection and that they have her classes as very serious. Nikki about freaked as when she was in the waiting room they called a stat to the dr. on Akivas bed.
Man I knew there were gong to be bad days but this is super scary, this is the most help in breathing she has had, she at birth was only at 30% now up to 100%. Now I guess this is where I call for your girls prayers and angels.

Will keep you up to date as I hear, but will be leaving the lines open so that if they call I will not miss the call. So that means very little internet time til all is ok again.
Poor Nikki she is so upset as she is over there alone, her dh had to go home to do some bills and stuff and will not be back until tomorrow.
Well for now that is it from me on Akiva... lets hope next post about her is good stuff.

Much love,

Sending prayers, hugs, positive vibes and anything else I can muster up.
From the days I spent waiting to see if my son would survive I learned something. Something I need to share with you. As fast as those tiny ones can go down hill, they can pop right back up again. Akiva is a fighter and she isn't ready to go quietly into this good night.
Shaving the head for iv's is commen. The other veins are so tiny they rupture or collapse. Don't be at all surprised if you here they make a small cut in the ankle for an iv either. They did both of those with Rick.
Please remember Lor, those wee ones rebound like nothing you've seen before. I have seen it over and over. Many prayers for little Akiva, you and everyone involved.

Funny how the worry takes over and then I read this and it grounds me.
Thanks so very much Hugs, Lor
