I am new here but I am getting to know you ladies. I want you all to know that I think of you gals often. My prayers go out to those of you who are suffering, physically or emotionally or just need a little support. You are a great bunch of people who have made me laugh and cry (sometimes at the same time). I don't always have a lot of time to post a reply but I want you to know I'm here.

Vegas sounded like a hoot. It must be great actually meeting the ones you talk to every day. Love the stories.

My time is mostly taken up with work (Bank) and the house. We built last year and now that winter is over we can work on the outside - yard, garden finish the driveway etc.

I have a black thumb and plants hate me. They die before I even get close to them. A garden should be a challenge. At my age this is embarressing but I know nothing about planting a garden. I'll take any advice you girls can give me.

Tomorrow is another day.

Hugs

Hi LM, welcome to the best little corner of the world. I am a gardener and just love it. I have these garden "rooms" outside and being in Central Texas, can keep most of it all year around. Now I'm trying something different, with ferns, they will have to come inside in the winter. Oh where will I put them all. The garden advise I have for you is to go to your local nursery and ask question after question about what grows best in your area. Also, see if you can find a plant book for your area and memorise it, lol. Good luck with your new venture and come back here and let us know how it's going. BIG HUGS. ..Free

Morning LM and welcome in case I missed doing that before. Free had great advice. And I see from your profile you are in Canada so I won't even venture any advice! I have no idea what grows where you are. I am just beginning to discover my gardening talents. I still gape in awe when something I planted from a tiny seed grows and looks happy! This year the "chaotic beauty" {as I like to describe my gardens} I've created is actually quite nice! ;o) See ya. Hugs

Welcome LM,

Sorry, no help here. I plant and it grows, no idea why since I sure don't attend to it much. LOL We do have some with green thumbs tho. I am sure they will be happy to help.

Hi LM, I'm in Minnesota...I like to garden but having varing degrees of sucess. Seem to have best results with old standbys...geraniums, marigolds, petunias...Have been adding perrenials every year and they sometimes survive and sometimes not. Dh helps with the gardening and usually looks presentable!

Welcome LM. I'm Kaci and & live in southeastern Wisconsin. I use to have big vegetable gardens but since I lost my dh, they've dwindled down to almost nothing. I'm the only one in the house now that will eat most of it so I don't bother any more. I do like my flower gardens though. They're not too big, compared to what some of the members of the board have, but I enjoy them. I'm in the process of putting in more periennels now. It's so much fun to see how pretty everything turns out. Enjoy your gardens.

Welcome, LM. I tell all my friends I have a PURPLE thumb, (between the two of us, I guess we're black and blue, lol). I try every year and I always manage to grow something, but I don't have the lovely well planned out gardens I know some of the ladies have. My main purpose is to get out and get some fresh air and exercise. Since I'm in MN we may have the same climate. I plant roses almost every year (what does that tell you about my skills, lol). This year, they are looking great so far, would be wonderful if I could keep them thru the winter for a change. Have fun planting, and if nothing else, just enjoy being outside. Charlie

Welcome LM

I have a green tinted brown thumb! I've lived in several very different places so I know about not knowing what to plant. I usually just stick to old favorites that I learned will work well in our area of Wyoming. Every year I try something new too. I talk to the garden depts as much as I can. I have pots instead of a garden so I also winter as much as I can in our sun room (aka the jungle). Soe, years are better than others but I keep trying. I also buy some other fun things to put among the pots from the garden section.

Keep trying and enjoy the outdoors!

Kathie
