Got outside in the early morning before it hit 106 day before yesterday & mowed down the front lawn. Took both boys over to Barstow (in Southern California high desert) yesterday to visit their best buds over there - S16 for a grad party & overnite, & S13 for about a week before they head back over here - so til tonite I'm kidless, tho DH headed out to work about an hour after I made it home. But I actually sat back, picked up a book I started last summer & read for a couple hours (what a novel thought!!) DH mowed the backyards while I was putting the 1000th mile on my new Chevy Tahoe - but it was so nice to turn the key - have the car start, drive without having to be overly alert to off-the-wall transmission whines & an occasional heaving, halting engine, & feel secure that I could drive out of town & know I'd be able to make it home w/o any major problems. Now to pay for the thing!?!?
MIL is getting really weak - I think after tomorrow we will try to figure out a way to not have to lift her at all - Hospice nurse will be back in by Tuesday if not before. I really can't if she's not able to help me at all, just too small myself & don't have that kind of strength plus got my own set of back problems don't want to aggravate aside from not wanting to hurt her. Even DH is having his share of problems hoisting her up to get her on the bedside commode & he's a big strong guy.
Think I'll actually start working on one of my quilt projects today & been trying to keep up w/cleaning one room a day now that I got a relatively thorough job done before the houseful of company & graduation happenings. Maybe w/a summer break from working & classes I can keep up w/it all for awhile even w/the houseful of 13-15yo boys that are constantly coming thru. It's certainly too hot to be outside here. I'm not looking forward to my electric bill this month, I've been keeping the thermostat set at 84 as usual, but instead of turning it off every nite I've been leaving it on & the A/C still runs quite a bit.
Take care all & hugs all around. As I told the ladies in Vegas I don't post much right now as MIL is now in the room that my 'puter is in so I'm not spending as much time on it - tho trying to read posts at least once a day to keep up.

Visited w/those that were gathering in the rooms at the Imperial just before the "Tiger" show Saturday morning. When they headed over to meet up w/the rest, I headed out of town to get get home. Sorry I missed you too. By the sounds of it something similar will be put together again in the future tho - you ladies were having too much fun to let this be a one-time thing!
We're learning some tips from the Hospice aide & nurse as we go which are helpful. I learned real quick early this week I can't lift her anymore, but a simple thing like a quarter folded sheet under her comes in handy for rolling her & repositioning her in the bed, & now we have a bedpan to try. Fun stuff ahead...
Thanks for your good thoughts coming my way - have a good week yourself.
Just heard that S13 did share some concerns over his Grandma w/a friend of his from the friend's Mom DH ran into yesterday. He'd never show that side of himself to us as he has to be the "Mr. cool of the 13yos" around here & goes out of his way to p**s off his Dad I think... I do know it's in there - just has to blow off this stuff at home which I guess is better than out in public, at his friends, or at school.
Relaxing is an art I'm trying to refamiliarize myself with this summer - it seems like it's been quite awhile since ALL my time hasn't been predisignated between work, my classes, homework, meetings or MIL's doctor appts, housework, etc...
Hope your week is going well also.
We're learning as we go & now w/Hospice help are learning some tips to make some things easier, plus the actual help - a quick course in Hospice 101 going on here.
I am enjoying the book - I may actually finish it this next week, a first since last summer.
Thanks for the kind thoughts. Hope you're having a good week.
