Not very happy here...

The surgeon's office called this afternoon and postponed my surgery until the 25th!

Seems my UA I gave Tuesday and repeated today shows a bladder infection! Huh? I don't even have any symptoms! But they assured me...so here I am popping antibiotics and gulping cranberry juice...and WAITING! Some more!

I don't understand this. First, I gave a sample at my regular doc's last Friday and no one called me. So Sunday my period starts. I tell my surgeon this when he orders the UA and it came back questionable on Tuesday. Then repeat today and still bad. He says it has nothing to do with that, it's an infection.

Second, why do they do all this just 7-8 days before the surgery? Why couldn't I have done all this a week ago? Then my date wouldn't have had to be moved!

Third...I can't even remember the last time I had a bladder infection, but I'm pretty sure I had symptoms!

I was just getting my mind in order for this whole thing...now I have to readjust.

Irked,

Red

Red, so sorry to hear that. Understand about the tests right before surgery though. They need to know nothing will cause a problem. Is in your benefit even if it makes it harder on you.

Can't recall ever having a bladder infection without symptoms either. Suppose it could happen.

Hang in there Red, rooting for this all to be over soon. Can't wait for the first post saying you went for a walk.

Hugs,

Rain

Ah Red! I bet this is disappointing to you, you hae gotten yourself all psyched for the operation and then this happens. Well I guess the doctor is trying to be safe rather than sorry. Not that it makes things much better for you though. I hope that you get rid of that infection real quick and are able to get the operation done as planned just a little later than first planned on.

Hugs Lor

Dear "irked" (Red),

That is a bummer! I guess they have to make sure that the surgery is done under the best circumstances so you'll not have complications. I know its hard to have your mind set to one date and then have to wait, but soon it will be all done and you will be recuperating and on to better days ahead!

Many hugs,

Sooze

Red--

So sorry that your surgery has been postponed! But with the antibiotics and all the cranberry juice you're floating in, you will be over it in no time! At least you'll know this is one less thing for them to be fretting over.

Can't wait to hear how you're going for walks and dancing in the aisles soon. I know lots of people who've had this type of surgery and so far nothing but good comments.

We'll be anxiously waiting for good news from you.

Red, I don't blame you a bit for being irked! I would be, too!! Your nerves must be on edge big time in the first place, and now you have more time to think about it. Grrrr!! But I guess it's better to be safe than sorry, even if you don't have symptoms.

Try to enjoy the 12 days between now and then, sweetie. Stay busy and try not to let it get to you!!

Big hugs, Pam

That is really too bad, Red. It's so hard when you get yourself psyched up to get something like this over...and then have it postponed. Keep drinking that cranberry juice.
