We are going to grill some steaks tonight in honor of Father's Day. I'm ready, but here by myself!! I made a layered salad and deviled eggs and I'm baking some potatoes. Also made pecan pies (dh's favorite) yesterday for our dessert. Dh and ds#2 left a little while ago to check out a car that ds is thinking about and ds #1 and ddil are going by to get my mother and should arrive any time. This is one of the RARE Sunday evenings that I don't have job responsibilities!! I did all three services this morning while the other director took a Sunday off, so tonight it is all his, though he only had one rehearsal and a committee meeting!!

I hope everyone is finding a way to enjoy Father's Day, though I know it is a bittersweet one for some of our sisters. My father has been gone for 7 years now, but I still miss him as he was most definitely my mentor.

Have a good week. Hugs!

Sooze

Hi Pam,

Its not an enormous church....actually used to be bigger, but has suffered from a not well liked minister in the last three years. We have 2,000 members, though actual attendance of combined services and SS is around 1,000 on any given Sumday. We conduct three worship services every Sunday. They are not identical....each is a little different in its concept. The amazing thing though is our music department! We have around 350 people (of all ages) participating in our many groups every week. So we have a full-time Director of Music and a half-time Assistant Director of Music (that would be me!). Next Sunday will be the first Sunday for our two new ministers, so this is a transition time for us and an exciting time. I hope we will re-vitalize and grow!! I love what I do!!

The steaks were delicious and we had a nice relaxed family visit. I thought of your family. I hope that yesterday was full of good memories and not too difficult.

Hugs,

Sooze

Sooze sounds like you had a very nice Fathers Day..food sounds so good!

We had our Fathers day dinner on the ferry ride when we were coming back from seeign the kids... but I will be taking dh out for a special dinner next week.

You know I still have my dad but I lost my mom over 13 years ago and Mothers day is usually a hard one for me, but I try to remember her and all her good things and that seems to help me.

Hope you had a good one!

Hugs, Lor
