week. One was in front and was very lopsided, with a huge branch coming out from one side and looming over the house. I just had that brance taken off. The other two were on the side of my house where my path is. The were both perched on the edge of the hill and I worry every year during the wet and windy season that they will uproot and fall on my neighbor's house. I had planned on digging up a lot of those plants before they came. Unfortunately, they didn't let me know they were coming. They also didn't seem to realize that there was a difference in that stretch of hostas, bleeding hearts and ferns from the ivy, blackberries and salal that I have been working at getting rid of. When I cam home that night, my plants were covered with huge branches and pine needles. I got them cleaned off pretty well. There was a lot of damage, especially to the bleeding hearts, but they will come back next year, I think. To top it off, though, when they came back to work on the tree in the front, they decided to make things nice before they left and cleaned up my path for me which was about 5' deep in branches from those two trees. And guess where they piled them! Right back onto the hostas and bleeding hearts! So that's what I did today. There are SO many piles of branches and trunk sections all over my yard right now. I am a little overwhelmed. I need to put a Free Firewood sign out but first I have to get all the stuff that's piled up in the vicinity of those poor hostas cleared away from there. I don't want ANYONE else walking around those poor things.

There is a lot more light coming onto that area now, but I miss my trees.

Poor little plants! Maybe you should let that company know what happened Kat? Sounds as if they probably did think there were only wild things growing in that area. Altho how anyone can mistake hosta for a wild plant is beyond me. Do yours have the purple flowers on them now...mine do. Our bleeding hearts are done blooming but maybe yours aren't. And why doesn't the company that did the work hall the limbs away if you don't want them? If I owned that business I would want to know what my customers needed besides trimming/cutting. But I may be expecting too much, huh? I get a little crazy with poor service, I must admit. I expect people who are getting paid to do a good job...silly me.

Hugs sweetie. Don't work too hard today. Go to the beach or read a book. Relax!

The company, Cappy, was just that one guy. He did all the work with the help of his son and a friend of his son's. He was very nice and I don't want to cause any trouble for him. It's too bad but I feel like it's my fault for not pointing out things that were important to me ahead of time. Also, he could have hauled the stuff away but it would have tripled my bill. I like the idea of chopping it up and being able to use the mulch. I just don't know how to get a shipper/shredder here.

Kat, your poor hostas and bleeding hearts! They must feel like someone has it out for them! You've got a big job ahead of you with all those branches and limbs to get rid of, good luck with it. Hope everything beautiful in your yard survives!!

Awwww Kat,

Sorry about the mess. Maybe give them a call and see what they have to say. I love trees myself and hate to see them cut down. Can't be helped sometimes tho. Do hope everything comes back next year.

Hugs,

Rain

Kat your poor plants, good thing that they are pretty hardy and will come back next year, but for now that has to hurt seeing them ruined like that!

I am sure you will feel a lot safer with the trees gone now though, I know how scary it can be when the trees come down, that happened to my neighbours tree many years ago.. right on to my car.

Hugs, Lor
